The floor was refinished not too long ago. We use pads under the furniture legs.

After sliding a heavy chair we see the marks in the floor that are in the photos here. They are not really scratched, but they are annoying.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Neat old floor.
...mind me askin' a couple of questions? I'm gonna ask anyway and there's nothing you can do about it. :D
Is the entire floor fastened that way? Brass fasteners? I like the look. How old is the floor?
That's not a scratch it's called "character" ;)

Thanks! Yes, it's all fastened that way. It's fir, I believe, and over 100 years old.

For me, old floors that have been refinished look better than brand new floors.
Visually, they are just more comfortable looking. Meaning they ask to be lived on as opposed to looked at. Looks nice.

You could try a finish touch up stick if the scratch is not to deep. They are hard to find and come in different glosses.

Thanks. It's really more of a scuff than a scratch. I tried Old English but it didn't work. How about Bona Power Plus?

I'll look into those sticks.

....or leave it as character. ;) It's not bad enough that I'd worry much. As I said before, it shows a lived in look. More fixes you try may mean it can get either better or worse.

Highup, I think I will go that route. Thanks, Nick, and I appreciate the Emo Phillips joke!

I just noticed this section. It's annoying. I have a 2-part question.

1. Is this the polyurethane or the stain?
2. My handyman (of course) didn't leave me the can of Minwax stain, so I don't know the color. is there an easy way to come up with that?

Thanks.
