,
I did another horrendous carpet job
this week. Sweet layout 😤
Drop the 44’ piece between the two birch trees and through the 6’ opening by the back bedroom.
The rip up sucked all the strip was buried under the pine on the walls.
We also had to rip up vinyl and underlayment in the kitchen.
Of corse all the cabinetry was installed after the floor. The old toe kick saw got a workout.
Also furniture moving from hell!
I danced a frickin jig when I left this place🕺🏻
#carpet sucks

Here I
I'm thinking you had to take the 44 ft piece between 2 trees and get it into a window to get it in the house. Glad you posted pictures. Looks like fun.
I'm on 30 rounded steps meaning curving. One set has to be bound both sides. But mother nature isn't cooperating. I got a half day in Thursday and today more snow and freezing rain. Job is 60 miles away. so as it stands I got the carpet cut for one set of steps. :army:

That’s a big 10-4 Nick.
I hate carpet.
It was paid the same as I would have made on a 140 yard drop room.
Was not happy.
We do mostly hard surface but lately getting the pain in the ass carpet jobs.

I did to Many Don .. Got my Airens today .. Don't come with a cord to start it . was told to use a extension cord . Saw the game last week .. You guys got clobbered with that lake affect snow ..

I like carpet, but I have always bid my own jobs according to how long I think it will take.

Mine didn’t come with a cord either come to think of it.
My other Aaron’s was a 2008 - 30” deluxe and I believe that came with the power cord.
I hardly ever use the electric start.
If you prime it and put the choke on , mine usually starts on the first pull.
We just got about 8 inches on Monday and then have gotten just a dusting every couple of days since.

Same as regular carpet installs??? How many yards, how much per yard. Regular rates, I'd walk out the door in a nanosecond. That ought to be 3 to 5 X the going rate. That's hourly stuff. They used the wrong pad too. They need felt or something that can't ever wrinkle. Can you imagine a restretch on that job. Very difficult to stretch properly (correctly).
I can see stretching that carpet lightly every witch way until you get it all seamed together, ............ and then stretching every direction away from those trees. We're talking lots of readjusting the stretcher to achieve that......... not to mention protecting and not damaging the bark on the trees.
That's artwork Don, so you ought to get paid way too much when people can afford a home like that. I mean, you suppose them stairs were priced as a set of ordinary stairs?

You are sooo right!
This store gives me a ton of hard surface flooring jobs where I can make great money.
They have another guy that does most of their carpet ( let’s call him “sloppy Joe”)
Sloppy joe would butcher a job like this.
They know I will take as much time as needed to do a top notch job.
Believe me I felt like leaving the second I walked in the door.
Especially after getting stuck trying to turn my truck and trailer around in a fresh 8” snowfall that wasn’t plowed.
My truck was inches from sliding into a garage. It took over an hour to disconnect the trailer and get turned around.
These folks live in NY City.
The camp is on a beautiful lake with a boathouse and a antique cris craft boat probably worth $80,000.
I sure if someone explained the difficulty of this installation and gave them a price that fit the skill set to do it , they would still get the job.

They are stuck in a one price fits all jobs mentally.
I have to do something about this , sooner than later

They didn't charge them regular price Don, They just paid you that .

When i use to get crap like that i would call the store and tell them what it was going to cost .. their call. Always got my money..

Imagine a roofer doing a ranch style home and then a second home with the same number of squares, only the second one has a brick chimney and 2 dormers on each side. Same price?

I know Nick , the job was like $12,000
Approximately 140 yards of carpet/pad and 28 yards of vinyl.
Plus they added more for the underlayment.
Probably snuck by with a small profit when all was said and done.🤯

No, My lawn guy put it together though. Have it covered outside until i get fresh gas .. I saw his old one a few years back go through the heavy wet crap ..

Their a high quality machine .. How about you ?

Can't get it here Don . they kicked it up to 10 % . They tried to make it 15 %

Destroys small engines , and cost more to make then regular gas ..

Did you noticed the gas shut off knob to run out the gas in the carb when you turn it off ?

Do any of the marinas have non ethanol? Oregon has it at some of the smaller service stations. It became legal here because the alcohol was screwing up engines in boats. The Coast Guard don't like rescuing people that go out over the jetty and have engine problems. It's a safety issue especially when boats go unused for a period of time.
