Oh Lordy, have you ever accomplished something really difficult........ something you didn't believe you could do, and it turned out really nice? The only thing that tops that feeling, is knowing you'll never see something like that ever again.
I'm gonna be losing sleep again. ...and I haven't even seen the job yet. This last one was 9 years ago. I think it had almost 27' of sewing. If this new job is a go, at least I have my old photos to remind me what I did. I took close ups of the important stuff along with measurements.
This new job uses the same Stanton runner material in a different pattern.
I'm not sure if I really want to go through this again.

On the brighter side this one has a single landing so there isn't a step in the middle.
The previous one had stair rods and this one won't.

Charge a lot if you do it.

The people are thinking to do two separate runners on the main floor, But they want the 28 foot long upstairs hall runner to continue down the stairway. It don't go down a long hallway and continue down the stairs. No, no, no, not so easy. The stairway T-bones the hall. Imagine that seam job.
Here's what they are looking at.
https://www.stantoncarpet.com/product/TOPKAPI/PANTHER
But they make such a difference !
They do. The hallways in this old house are one foot square finger joint oak parquet.
There's about 85 feet of runner not including the extra needed to use for salvaging the borders........... so add another 10' or 15 feet depending on how the landing happens ans what it takes to make the individual runners end proportionally.
10 grand for materials............... plus the padding. (and me)

Ten grand sounds like a good number for labor. All it is is material - without the skilled labor to make it beautiful. If it comes in square meter charge accordingly, not square yard.

The runner flows past the bottom step onto the wide hall on the main level. The hardest part would be dealing with the "T-bone" at the upper hallway (green circles) Would I sew the stair section into the upper hall runner at a 90 degree angle?
...or sew the hall runner area that goes over the first step true to itself and then do the rest of the stairs normally?
We don't have a sample. They saw this pattern online and got a small sample.
There is a door opening at the top of the steps....... it's 31 inches exactly. The runner is supposed to be 31 inches too. I wonder it Stanton's 31 inches is really 31 ..........or is it 31 and 1/8 or 30 and 7/8?

That's the plan, but I want to see the material in it's full glory first so I know the width of the borders and the spacing of the main characters.

I suppose if I charged it out computing it in square inches, the $10,000 charge would look pretty darn fair. :D
I mean, isn't that exactly what the industry did when changing prices from sq yards to to sq feets? ;)
