Rep. Vincente Gonzalez (D-Texas) tore into President Donald Trump’s fake narrative that U.S. border towns are lawless frontiers, declaring that they’re in fact “safer than any city the president has ever lived in.”

The border town of McAllen, Texas (population 145,000), in Gonzalez’s district didn’t have a single homicide last year, the congressman pointed out in an interview Saturday on MSNBC.

A major report on crime in Texas Monthly in 2015 deemed the border towns of the Rio Grande Valley as “extremely safe.” Border counties, regardless of population, have lower rates for homicides, violent crime and property crimes than non-border counties in the nation, according to FBI crime statistics for 2017.

Trumps essentially giving back the land on the other side of the fence to Mexico along the Rio Grande, land along the bank and half the river. American's won't be able to access it.

Hundreds of miles I assume? It's called a trade off.
Besides, I'm never gonna go there. :D
If I build a fence between me and my neighbor I need a 5 foot setback.......... so essentially, I'm giving them 5 feet of my property? I really wouldn't care, because the fence is more important.

Many ranchers will no longer have access to the river water for cattle either. There will be hundreds of lawsuits. The property does not belong to the government. Eminent Domain lawsuits can take years.

Good read for the blinded MAGA peeps. Insert "has" for "is" in the tittle.
Snip - In 2017, Reuters examined the sale of Trump Organization properties in Florida. It found that 77 of 2,044 units in the developments were owned by Russians. But that was likely an incomplete portrait. More than one-third of the units had been sold to corporate vehicles, which can readily hide the identity of the true owner. As Oliver Bullough remarks, “They might have belonged to Vladimir Putin, for all anyone else could know.”

They probably did, ..............as we all know that Putin and Trump have played golf every Sunday for 30 years and throw elaborate birthday parties for each other. They are joined at the hip.

Well we know they are joined at the wallet. They buy lots of trump condo's. To bad Trump is such a dummy and thinks he can hide it from the public. First he said "No deals with russia". Then maybe some deals. Now it's lots of deals. F'er is selling us out. And his followers are plainly commie sympathizers.

Snip- The United States' southern border has been closed and fenced off in sections starting as early as the 1910s, during the Mexican Revolution. But the Canadian border was for decades much more open. Before 2001, locals would casually walk back and forth without passports or IDs, and for the most part, no one minded.
