I have a lot of surface scratches on our hardwood floors. Mostly from our dog’s nails, I believe. Rubbing things like Old English Scratch Cover over them has no effect. Since they are just surface scratches, and the dog will probably just cause more, we don’t want to do a refinish just yet. We want to wait until we move in a few years.

Are there any interim remedies that might improve the appearance in the meantime?

A friend does hardwood floors. He once told me never to use products like Rejuvenate.... Spelled something like that. Makes refinishing a floor more difficult down the road.

You think those scratches are bad you should see my arm from mine. Of caorse when we get old our skin gets thin but come on, she is aways climbing on my arm when she wants something. Remember the nails are just bone extensions and very hard, and they can get sharp from wear and tear. If the scratch was all the way through the finish you could probably hide it with the old english-excellent product by the way carried it in my box for many years.

Ah, yeah I don’t think the scratches have gone through the finish. Must be why Old English isn’t doing anything. They seem to be scratches in the finish. Noting that I have tried has made any progress in buffing them out or making them less noticeable. Floor is only 3 years old. :-/

I just saw an advertisement on facebook for revitializing furniture and thought of you> I had a table I had to coat with Bees wax to polish it. I wonder if beeswax would work. A toilet seal is bees wax so it isn't hard to find. Hardware store would have it.

Not sure if you'd want to add wax if down the road they refinish it. Bees or toilet ring wax doesn't dry hard and if it seeps into the wood where it's scratched.... The refinisher might not like you.
