What might be an S-200 replacement for an old roll of Solarian vinyl?

Apartment owner can get an OLD roll of heavy inlaid Solarian for cheap, but if the seam can't be done properly, I don't want him to buy it. There'a a 9 foot seam in the middle of the kitchen and probably a short and narrow one under the fridge.
The roll is old, but it feels like new.... then felt hasn't hardened up and it still feels pliable.............. well, as pliable as Solarian ever got.
My brother mentioned Supermend epoxy, but I don't know it's set time and spreadability. S-200 was predictable.
I miss the old days.

If I remember right it can be chemicially welded also.
Something just popped out of my pea brain......................... Didn't Armstrong say that S-200 wan't necessary anymore at some point...... like they had changed the material?
The sealer was a 2 part top coat. They also changed the top layer to Urethane and the sealer wouldn't stick to it. This was all a long time back, and I don't remember the order of things they changed.

Beats me. I don't remember yesterday.

I forget too. I have some in a little bathroom in my garage believe it or not.
I'd use some mannington MSS 20 on the seam and call it a day. It's nice and smelly.
I keep a can handy to use it on vinyl planks when I have to shave off a locking mechanism. Works great.

That looks a lot like the vinyl the guy picked out 12 by 12's? His is a butt ugly brown with tiny blue chips........ I think that's the material. I just recall them not requiring S-200 and only needing sealer.
MSS 20 is a single component, right? They make a high and low gloss sealer too, but those are two part. They're stronger and would probably bond to the top coat better.
I just don't want to do a floor and have the seam cause problems. I told the guy it's supposed to have S-200 and that they don't make it anymore. I don't know what to advise him to do. Not sure the best adhesive for this either. I suppose S-288 would work.

I got the piece fit yesterday, then rolled it back up. Not enough time to glue it.
I did a quick seam test 6 by 6 scrap. I made a 4" cut through the center of this piece then folded it open so I could apply a bead of Armstrong S-761 seam adhesive through the thickness of the material, then let the seam close up and wiped off the excess sealer and set the scrap aside overnight. Pretty nice result.
I'm thinking maybe once the seam is cut, I could apply a 1/8" bead of sealer into and under the edge of the seam before rolling it into place.... then wipe up the excess.
S-761 is the seam adhesive that looks like carpet seam sealer (but it isn't)

Yeah, 761 is all there is now. Looks like a bottle of latex, but they guarantee it even with stuff like Medintech. I always hated s-200 anyway.

I use Ardex tube adhesive (single polymer) for any thing that needs to be glued when an appropriate adhesive isn’t available it absolutely always works

I may have some old stock s200 at the shop
I have a million dollars in gold coins set aside specifically for s200..... 😁
......no, no really.
Please trust me, that if you pop the can open, ...either one of them, do not take a deep sniff to see if the material is still good. It will not be a pleasant experience. 😉
.... Ask me how I know. 😁
What, that stuff's been gone for 20 years? If it's been sealed up I think it still might be good.

No matter how old it is, if you can mix it, it’s still good. 😁

Any good epoxy flooring adhesive will hold the backing to the slab/ply. Any decent top sealer would then bond the vinyl surface layer. I think the gimmick with the S200 was it was a clear epoxy that served to bond the backing and "weld" the vinyl. That's why it was so F'n expensive.

S200 was the Amber epoxy. It set up at a pace you could work with.
I've never known any other flooring epoxy. I know they make them for commercial materials but I've never done those. It wasn't all that expensive because you didn't really need much.
You just mentioned the second problem which was that most top sealers would not adhere to the urethane clear coats that they started putting on the materials. They kind of screwed everything up when they started changing things.

What is ardex tube adhesive? I thought they only made patches and leveling products.
Nope it’s 17 dollars a tube bad to the bone DuPont single polymer it’s been around but gorilla glue has a clone - they have a new orange tube product with cut off tip removable tip also that appears to be single polymer
