Found the perfect vehicle for "Super Randy" (here he comes to save the day)

My brother doesn't respond well to requests for help or to do even the bare minimum. For some reason he thinks nothing at home is his responsibility. He was too spoiled as a kid. It's just frustrating that he's so inconsiderate and no amount of reminding will change his behavior. I'm not mad at him anymore, just tired and frustrated at the repeating cycle of having to be the only adult in the house.

He didn't last long at work. Maybe a couple hours and friend brought him home. Boss said he was no good to them coughing constantly and feeling dizzy & he needed to rest up. Apparently the friend did notice I didn't have pants because he sent me a Lord of the Rings gif about "The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!" in reference to my pale legs reflecting the sunlight. LOL.

Supposedly our friend told his gf to get out after he found out she's been trash-talking him to her new baby's father. She also keeps messaging and calling him at work whining about the baby (which isn't his) and how she wants him to come home and take care of her. His mom said she will babysit the grandkids (not the new baby though-- that one needs to go to its bio dad) bc she wants the gf out.

Anyway, I cooked for Mom and watched more Chopped. Didn't actually get my nap because I couldn't get comfortable but I'm probably going to take a nap soon.

I hope I can make it into work today. Two days ago we had wind and this morning it hailed so hard it almost covered up a few of the leaves on my steps. The temperature has dropped from 35 to 34....
....the end is near. 🫣

Take all the water into your room and tell him "we're all out"

O-Boy ! That’s probably needed, but in the long run 🏃‍♀️ inadequate due to the intentional lie. Keep all directives short, simple, and respectful by being honest. Human culture is created by copying what we witness. Witness to him what is wrong, how it makes you feel, and give him 2 choices on how to make it up. He’s the younger spoiled child playing his role. Start looking at him as the (adult) little helper and give him direction, maybe 🤔 he’ll change roles ?

……. Secret bonus material: Removing personal expectations on how others need to think, act, and be, opens up an unlimited untapped resource of creative directing, we never thought existed. Try giving directions unconditionally as you would have given, pre-Mapquest , to a lost stranger trying to find his way home.
✌️

MSLI, I've tried giving him the benefit of the doubt and treating him like an adult. He's never been a helper type. Just flat out refuses. He doesn't give two craps about my feelings. Every time I've expressed my feelings he accuses me of overreacting and/or "playing the victim". But him being expected to clean up after himself is treating him "like a second class citizen" and he truly believes he does "the lion's share of the work". He tells my sister and her friends that & her husband dislikes me because of my brother's lies about me. And once that guy dislikes someone, there is no changing his mind.

I suppose I could hide the water in my room & just not say anything-- therefore, I wouldn't be lying. But I really don't have a place to put the water.

Right now he's too sick to do anything. I might have to take him to the hospital if he gets worse- and my damn rotator cuff is hating on me. Pain has radiated down to my wrist now. I could barely sleep last night bc I couldn't get comfortable. Naproxyn, arthritis meds, shoulder exercises etc are not working. Tried heat and cold as well.

Sorry to hear that Z, I hope 🤞 you both start feeling better soon.

Thanks for sharing that Z, I’m learning from this dialogue more than you know. When something is done around you that you dislike or is disrespectful, it’s important to share our feelings, to get them out, primarily for your own wellbeing not for them. To expect them to respect you afterwards and to comply is unwise. It’s our responsibility to respect ourselves first ! and foremost ! …..Now, Getting respect from others, becomes secondary and not actually necessary. This stuff is easy to grasp especially after ingesting one of cp’s gummy’s 😝 and having a quiet mind, but the Highup reality 😜 is, in The heat of life’s moments, we typically react or overreact because we want something from others. Care less about that and activate a responsible response.

The secret to giving unconditionally is to make our internal conditions stronger than our need to get….. No small task in todays culture, but imho worth pursuing.

Get well soon, both of you and Mom too !

Thanks, MSLI. Shoulder is still giving me trouble-- all the way down to my wrist. Having trouble sleeping at night since I can't get comfortable. I need to change the hvac filters, get mail from the post office, and see if I can manage to get the trash bag dislodged from the can without hurting myself. Sometimes it really gets stuck in there.

I heard something in my closet earlier-- hangers smacking together (my closet doors came off and I can't seem to get them back on). I immediately knew which cat it was (without looking) and hollered his name. He stopped and came running over. It's always that one cat. LOL. I need to see if I can get the doors back on when my shoulder stops being a bitch.

Went to walmart for rx and groceries. Got a papercut on my finger while pulling stuff out of the cart to scan at self-checkout and it started bleeding a little. Total WTF moment. Cashier was worried and said service desk might have a bandaid. I said it wasn't that much blood so I wasn't worried. She asked how I managed to cut myself and I said that I'm just that lucky and cut myself on a microwave door before.
Picked up mail at the post office, unloaded groceries at home, and changed hvac filter.
I'm debating taking a nap or not. Had trouble sleeping last night bc my shoulder is giving me grief.

Got a trailer that the customer is doing a lot of the work themselves. Lucky for me they had some money burning a hole in their pocket so I’m doing a new butcher block countertop and prepping a wall for peel n stick backsplash.

I bought a cheap set of router bearings from Amazon. I know they’re cheap so I check them frequently while routing. I caught this one before it self destructed and ruined my workpiece. Prolly should buy a lottery ticket before my good luck runs out.

Had to fill a void that showed up after I routed the undermount sink. Starbond makes a black and a brown CA adhesive for filling voids but clear will work just as well in this situation. Here’s the finished product with a couple coats of mineral oil.

Do you use anything other than glue to put it together? Biscuits, dowels?

My job is cool but not that cool on this trailer. That’s a customer supplied butcher block, most likely from HD. I’m not judging, I love my job😁 I just had to shape, sand and oil it this time around.

If I was making my own block I would glue it together, gorilla glue or epoxy it if Titebond wasn’t up to the task. Biscuits and dowels are for lining up larger pieces with each other during an install. Only had one trailer that needed multiple blocks joined. It was a cookie food cart trailer. They brought in some cookies for us and damn they were good. It’s located at one of the colleges here in Phoenix somewhere. I’ve tried to google it one night when I would have eaten a bunch of their cookies and damn if I can’t find it. Prolly for the best.

You did a good job with the butcherblock, CJ.

Mom just asked me to do some cleaning in the hallway and I hope my arm will cooperate. Earlier I went to get out of bed and pushed down with that arm to help lift myself up and it started spasming like I had a charlie horse in the bicep. I was pounding my other fist on the bed while yelling profanities. It pisses me off that my arm is not cooperating.

I tried to pick up the old microwave to move it this morning but my arm wasn't having it. I ended up having to grab it by the cord and drag it across the floor. My fat cat, Bethesda, decided to hop on for a ride. Had to push her off because I couldn't move it with her fat behind on it. She chased after it & kept trying to get back on. I eventually managed to lift it on to a bin out of the way & she promptly climbed on it. Last I checked, Aminatu was lounging on it. I wish I had help with it, but my brother is still feeling dizzy. Might end up taking my friend up on an offer for help with getting it out the front door. I think the two of us could get it. It's super bulky and there's nowhere to really grab easily.

I'm sure Mom will want me to cook in a bit but my arm is not up to holding a frying pan. ugh. I feel like such a wuss.

Those butcher blocks with under-mount sinks make me pucker. If it’s a porcelain sink it’s a little bit tighter. Gimme a copper washer and I’ll give you back a penny. Prolly a Canadian penny but still a penny. I love the challenge, the brain is working, but one wrong move and we’re out a few hundred bucks plus a days worth of labor and whatever time it takes to get new product. That can add up. Never mind that crap, I just don’t wanna hear it if I do blow it. Isn’t that what we’re all really trying to avoid? You know how it goes, one wrong move and that’s the story you’ll have to listen to every Christmas until the day you die. Back in ‘10 or maybe ‘11 I got some dirt in a vinyl seam and I’ll be damned if I didn’t hear about that shit for a solid 5 friggin years. Never mind the fact that the customers were pissed off before I even knocked on the door AND I told the boss I didn’t wanna do the job because I knew it wasn’t gonna end well. Too bad, I did the job, I got dirt in the seam and I never heard the end of that shit until I finally left the state in ‘16.

Here’s one I did with Corian, I musta measured and remeasured a bunch of times to get it just right before I set the countertop and cut out the sink n stove openings. I like to leave maybe 1/4” overhang to route flush after it’s all said and set in place. On the butcher blocks that fluff room jumps to 1/2” because the jigsaw blade can go wonky while cutting through 1 1/2” of material and I can’t risk hitting the sink. I’m ok with leaving more material but when routing 1 1/2” of solid wood, there’s a lot going on there and routers can jump. 1/2” by 1 1/2” is a lot of material to route off. You ever had a router jump? I have and it clenches me right up. Don’t laugh cus you’ld pucker too! I’ll throw the router before I let it bite me so if you’re holding the shop vac nozzle you better watch out cus a hot router with a big bit might be coming your way.

This is where the oversized bearings come in. It’s either that or I fasten shims for my first pass, who knows, maybe that is the answer. I’m still working on it before I dump 2 bones on a bit. Anyway, I put on an oversized bearing on my router bit for my first pass. This takes off all the inconsistent crap and leaves me with a consistent 1/4”? of material that needs to be removed. Now I put on the regular bearing for the bit and do a flush trim pass. When I have a consistent amount of material to remove the router performs in a consistent, predictable way and is much easier to control. Then when that’s all said and done I’ll remove the blue tape from the sink and make a last final pass that will completely flush me out with the sink.

I’m working my way up to shear bits and spiral bits but finding one that cuts 1 1/2” makes them a bit more spendy. Such is life, right. Palm routers won’t cut it for removing that much material so here’s router #6 for me that I got yesterday. I like the Bosch 1617, something about the wood handles and parts are readily available on ereplacementparts.com. That and if it ain’t broke, buy another one. It’s just one click away and was only a buck fiddy, before tax, which means $169 or something like that. So much to do and so little time to do it.
