Fridge looks awesome!

So, I love my cats but they decided to be complete assholes Sunday night/Monday morning. I got to sleep and Aminatu came leaping from behind my headboard (from a windowsill) onto my head and springboarded off my sore arm. Later that night Senator Snugglebum chased Yasuke into the room & Yasuke used my arm as a springboard to jump to the tv stand. Snugglebum then pounced on my arm and stayed there until I managed to push him off-- which made my arm hurt even more. In the morning, Snugglebum was chasing Sir Hammington who pounced on my arm looking for me to defend him. Each time they woke me up. Each time my arm was spasming and throbbing. I love my cats but I was ready to toss them all out the window at that point. I think I yelled at them for a good 2min straight and then my alarm went off bc it was time to get up to take Mom for her appointment.

Her bloodwork was good, her weight is down, and she's doing well. I've been around 220lbs for awhile. Hopped on the scale out of boredom while waiting and was down to 216. Then I took off my fanny pack and was a hair over 210. I need to keep losing the weight. I feel like I had gained weight instead of losing it.

Had to take my brother for an afternoon appointment and he's still got some wheezing and needs another round of antibiotics but he's cleared to go back to work this week.

Got a navigation DVD for my truck off Ebay. Advertised as new, returns/refunds allowed. After purchase it changed to say "used" and "no returns/refunds". Took old dvd out (which still works but is not updated) & it popped up an error. Disk Read Error, invalid DVD, contact dealership. I checked everything to make sure it was supposed to be compatible and it was. Contacted seller to tell them about the error and asked what to do. No response but the seller changed the listing again to say disk read error was bc of bad navigation system. DVDs don't go bad. Don't bother them over it, etc. So, I contacted the dealership and they told me the only reason for that error is a bad disk. Said they will write a letter for me to give to ebay to confirm its a bad disk and not a bad navi system. Guy gave me his cell to contact him when I want to bring the vehicle in for maintenance so he can make sure I get the letter & get my concerns with error messages on the system addressed. Well, "check ABS", "check VSA" "Check emissions" stuff. In the meantime, I'm going to tell the ebay seller that my deaalership called BS on his claims & that its a bad disk. I will send proof to him and I want a full refund or I will leave a 1 star review. I'm sure he'll leave me a bad review but I don't care. LOL. If he still gives me crap, I'll go through Ebay bc of their money back guarantee.

I have to wait to go to the dealership bc I finally got ahold of the AC repair guy. He said he'd call me back when he can send someone out. So, I'm waiting for that call.

At least mom is concerned about my arm and is telling me to take it easy to not make it worse. And the new neck pillow I got is very comfortable. Its much squishier than other ones I've purchased so it doesn't hurt my ears or neck.
Are you familiar with Poverty Point?

Brother and are carpeting a bedroom today. Cut the carpet and pad yesterday and delivered it.
Had to remove a dresser and hutch and disassemble a big bed.
When we arrived, the guy said they only had that one bedroom. 😳
...well, they agreed to sleep in the living room.
I could barely lift one end of the hutch or the dresser. It's some crazy, heavy wood from Vietnam.
The carpet was the heaviest softback I'd seen in years and we took the cart to move it into the house...... miserable day yesterday.
The job is 30 minutes away.
I'd rather measure something.

Went to the eye doctor today and I could see that gap with my glasses off. If I woulda had a black sharpie I woulda crawled down there and colored in the gap.

Playing around with some cork tile I've had hanging around since 2005 or so. I recall the date because I just found some old pay stubs from the summer when my eldest boy worked with me. This stuff went into a couple of President/Vice President corner offices at a new manufacturing plant in Fontana. I wonder if they're still in business. Wish I could remember the name. What I can never forget was the designer who picked the cork was wife of the President and mother of the Vice President. She was a hysterical nutcase. I got pretty good of playing "Good Guy" with such a fanatic. She bought striped carpet tile and refused to quarter turn so she was going apeshit about the way the seams/stripes looked. It was a pretty big carpet tile job done by another shop------we just did the cork. She was also picking on the quality of the flat vinyl base installation. She was right to complain as it was typical sloppy BS. I couldn't help but laugh at how intense she was. Usually we're not involved directly with the "end user" so they never get THAT bent out of shaped. That was one deranged old broad. Funny, I remember more about all that than the actual cork install.

Oh, I forget the funniest moment. There was about 4/5 cartons left over and when she saw me moving them around after I was done she said "THAT WEASEL" because the salesman over ordered. It was quite a bit more than normal but the guy explained to me it was really hard to get if he came up short so he wanted to cover his ass. God forbid he came up short. I wouldn't want to be around with the ol' Lady at that point.

I remember more of those jobs than I care to. Sheetrock, tape and spackle have to go all the way to the floor…. Which they never did…. Spent more time patching the walls than the floors. And even then it took a lot of extra attention to get it look good… That straight stuff should be for tack and pad installs only.🫣

Well I sppeent all of last week[m-f] in the hospital with blood clots in my lungs and legs. Plus there was a lump on my left boob that has been there for 3-4 years which they biopsied. Today was the day I got the results of all of it. The lump is not cancerous, but has to be removed, so that will happen in March or so. The reason for the blood clots is something I inherited from my mother and possibly father. It has to do something with my blood and I could have possibly passed it down to my son, heaven forbid. Anyway I'm on the blood thinner coumidum[sp] and its working really good. I had blood work done at 9:45 and I took the bandaid off at noon and I was bleeding like a stuck hog. So all is fun and games when getting older.

Glad your back and well enough to post Daris. Very sorry to hear about the health issues. Good luck and God bless.

about no one will do that here-----FIX THE WALL

they ought to just forget about flat vinyl/rubber base as the GC/drywall scabs/flooring guys are even capable of understanding what's required for that style of install. Yeah, the F'n drywall can be an inch and a half off the slab. Carpet guys here just dont even bat an eyelash as far as chopping off that horrid lump of drywall mud "where the wall meets the floor". Neither are they digging out wads of accoustic caulking, screws, shims, dust, rocks.......the kitchen sink. They have two possible solutions; 1. lump over it. 2. cut around it.

Removing the lumps and obstructions isn't in the conversation. When I've gone to battle over this ten hundred zillion times the look on everyone's face------including my co-workers and superiors was ASTOUNDED.

Here's the kicker---------as time went on------years, decades, careers the snowballing sloppiness is now so horrid they struggle to put cove base. God forbid they call out flat base on the contract. We'll have to fly in a retired specialist from Long Island, NY.

Yea, I thought like that at first. Why should I have to fix the wall!?

Seeing as how I worked for a small shop it didn’t take long to figure out that no matter how much I complained, in the end, the only one that was gonna have to fix it was me…

Easier to fix it first. And after I learned to take before and after pictures I was actually able to get paid for the work!

The high resolution photos and email really changed our industry!

I did start winning---------well, at least getting a fair shot-------once I could pin down the sleazy, stupid Junior Stupidintendants and their horrible fly-by-night, scab drywall finishers. Winning-------just means I didn't have to do their work AND my work. I just got to do my job with the absolute minimum acceptable standards after many days/weeks of delays and at least half a dozen emails back and forth.

In the Olden days we just ate that Shit Sandwich and learned to like it. Boss was always wondering why we couldn't do 1000' a day. Whatever!

That shit always grinded my gears when you were expected to perform as if you had optimal conditions every single hour of every single day.

Me, being a piece worker, didn’t get paid for all the time spent doing the back n forth routine. Half the time I didn’t get fairly compensated for the fix either. Then to add to the pile, I was still expected to keep the same schedule despite all the setbacks. Now you’re staying late and working weekends.

And people wonder why ‘nobody wants to work anymore’.

I am so glad that I spent most of my years self-employed. And until the last 10 years, I did mostly owner-occupied homes. Then I did almost all apartments. I could work by myself and make $100 an hour.

So the reasons the hourly/union guys WILL lump over crap they know ought to be fixed first is that pressure to make a quick buck and move on to the next job to make more money for the boss. He's making the same 40 hour check so there's that.

I just got to the point I didn't care as much about getting harassed for not finishing the job as getting harassed about repairs. Either way I was eating a Shit Sandwich. My solution was to walk off the site and force that idiot Junior Assistant TO the Regional Manager to create the drama-------kicking and screaming to my boss that i was a Prima Donna.

This always happened on the front end with the floor prep and then on the ass end with the base/transitions. As much pride as i took in both my productivity/efficiency and quality I took even more pride in pissing all over that Junior Assistant's dream of bullying the flooring guy into doing other trade's work. I could about never win on the smallish, 2-3 day installs. But when you're going to out there with half a dozen men for a couple months or more you'll lose your ass (the Boss' money) and your reputation if you let that idiot have his way.

What killed the union in KC, back in my day, was the guys would quit at 4 pm, no matter what. If you had 30-60 minutes left to finish and it left the customer torn up for another day, or if a homeowner had to miss another day's work, it did not sit well with customers. It got to the point that only one small store had union layers. Besides, we self-employed made more than they did.

Yeah, residential flooring doesn't fit nicely into 8 hour increments.

Rusty & Daris, I hope you are both feeling better.

No. What is it?

We managed to doge the tornadoes that blew through-- they hit east of our area. Rained a lot though. Got chilly & cats piled on me. They are piled on now.

Talked to the seller from e-bay about the dvd & he is being a jerk. Won't accept a return & refuses to give a full refund. I told ebay CS what seller was saying. Ebay CS said the product is defective & therefore the seller has to pay return shipping and give a full refund. They took my word for it, although I'm going to offer proof. Couldn't get an appointment with dealership until Monday though. Will call the guy Steve from service dept on Friday to discuss it.

Brother is feeling better. He had a work meeting + Christmas party. He picked up our friend in a bearhug and someone took a picture. He came back with candy and gifts. He got old wrapping paper out of the closet on Tuesday & accidentally locked one of the cats in the closet. The cat rarely meows so he didn't make a peep (or at least not that I could hear) for over 12 hours. Wednesday evening I was in my bathroom and heard meowing from the wall. As soon as I got out I opened the door and he stumbled out. I got him food and water and he's been obsessed with sitting on me ever since.

I think the fact that I'm in pain (shoulder/arm) is stressing the cats out more & they have been fighting. Yasuke has been a real jerk. My brother started calling him "Bitch McNuggets" for some reason. Temjin is exploring more and went in to the bedroom closet- which is where Yasuke likes to patrol. He saw her in there and started beating her up. The dog Princess is very fond of Temjin so she rushed over to defend her.

AC guy never called back.

Mom paged me so I'm distracted.
