    Porcelain tile substrate

Thank you. I'm hoping this all comes out well in the end. So far, the prep work has been overwhelming. I'm still working on making the current subfloor flat and level before adding another layer of 3/4" plywood.

    Porcelain tile substrate

There seems to be a lot of disagreement as to whether you can put porcelain tiles directly on exterior grade plywood. I've had product manufacturer representatives say YES, with the right thinset, and I've had installers say both yes and no, with more saying no. Is there a correct answer? Are...

    Subfloor issues

For the most part, the joists are uneven. The floor is high in the (almost) center and continuously dips towards the ends. On the one side, it dips down to 3/4" lower over a run of about 16', starting at the high spot. The other side dips about 1/2" over a 10' run. I was considering adding...

    Subfloor issues

I am preparing to lay large format porcelain tiles. My problem is that the subfloor is uneven/wavy, along with being only 5/8" OSB. My thoughts are to pour on a self leveler to get it flat and level, followed by a layer of 3/4" OSB for strength, then 1/4" hardiebacker. Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Laying down large format tiles

I'm getting ready to lay down 8"x40" porcelain tiles in a 350 sq ft room. Are there any tips for getting the tiles even with each other? Or any suggestions at all about putting them down?

    Subfloor

Thank you. I'm pretty sure I've reinforced the joists to the point where I've exceeded L720. Time will tell

    Subfloor

Thank you. I just finished reinforcing the joists to the point where there is practically no bounce at all. Will definitely use your advise...once I have it sufficiently flat. With OSB being uniformly flat, do I need to use thinset between it and the hardiebacker?

    Subfloor

I'm getting ready to put down large porcelain tiles. My current subfloor is 5/8 OSB. I'm currently flattening the subfloor and am planning on adding another layer of 3/4 OSB on top of it, followed by 1/4" hardiebacker. Is this acceptable? Do I need to use construction adhesive between the OSB...
