Thank you, highup! I got few dri core panels with foam to test and they seems to be comfortable and kinda diy friendly after concrete is level 😆 I did apply plastic taped square to the floor and will wait for few days to see what happens. Not sure how to figure out R value comparison of 6mil...

    Problem old laminate floor

Looking at concrete floor and English basement type, aka I have windows at the ground and walkout door am looking at products that would help me to keep my floors warmer and less prone to chill. It looks like Dricore insul armor possibly fits the bill? Concrete floors are just too cold to be...

    Removing vinyl tile adhesive

As always, thank you thank you! I am using floating engineered Kahrs wood and their underlayment. I am glad I asked. No gluing. Tiles were put 2004 so presumably there is no asbestos there? I will still use n95. Also Adhesive is clear brownish in color.

    Removing vinyl tile adhesive

Am pulling up old vinyl tile but floor remains sticky. Mostly OSB. I tried a bit of Goo gone but it is not very helpful. Floor will likely need to be leveled a bit at least in patches, I am assuming felt paper should be used. Then padding and floating floor but I do not want any sound of...

    Floating floor and kitchen.

You guys are wealth of information! After consideration am thinking I should "dry" place and mark my bases ends, step off 1/2", lay strips to match floor height and let floor installers come close with a gap. Then after the floor installed I get my base cabinets installed. This way I avoid...

    Closet doorways, please advise.

Thank you CJ! Am thinking I should try to notch one plank with doorframe opening and possibly slide it in deep enough under and then pull it out after fixing previous row. That still leaves me with problem of short end planks not matching in one row. Due to being like small fence teeth mechanism...

    Closet doorways, please advise.

Half way there. Too many doorways. Am using Kahrs floating floor which works the best when angled 20-30 degree to lock. I am stumbling on how to work around closet door entries. The only way something goes under door frame and door jamb is flat. I undercut them but I need an angle to lock any...

Moisture level check prior to installation

Thank you for responses, I am very grateful to learn. Yes, wood will be wood, tight in summer and loose in winter. Humidity being what it is and our age what it is ... Unlikely I will be living in next generation of netzero housing with latest and newest tight controls over everything. That said...

Moisture level check prior to installation

Yep, engineered wood. I bought some wood a while ago thinking that is where I start my remodel but then got "brilliant idea" to quickly update my master bathroom. Plumbing ended up a disaster. So now few months later I am getting ready to finally put floors in. Wood has been sitting in my living...
