    Thought of the day .

Gotta be more than one in a billion. I want to see the math.

Is this installation board gapping complain-worthy?

Looks like he's put those joints fairly tight but one side of the butt joints is angled----not square. All of the joints highlighted in the video seem to show slightly out of square ends on the plank which will result in a gap. Can you slide the credit card all the way across the opening or only...

    Measuring for wide LVP

You could specify the difference in laying it shortways or longways. It's a math problem. With smaller planks/tiles we're really just working off a percentage of the actual square footage. But with 9" wide by 5' long you can very easily figure out the exact minimum and maximum number of...

    Thought of the day .

Chart of the Day: The USA puts 10.5 TRILLION dollars a year on the credit card at ~3% "processing fees" on top of interest and potential late fees of around $160 billion. So from what I found the transactions fees NET of those "cash back" gimmicks are generating about the same $$$ as interest...

Is this installation board gapping complain-worthy?

Hard to see from those photos. Only the first looks for sure problematic. Glue down, nailed down or floating?

    Measuring for wide LVP

It's really NOT gonna be 8% on basic square/rectangular contiguous area. Sure, because of the aggravation and potential cost you want to bump your estimate up around there for smallish residential--------50 miles from the shop. In commercial EVERY job seemed to be 50 miles travel. If I had to go...

    Measuring for wide LVP

Again, I'm running that the longways. Something that cut up (in commercial) I'm not spending half a day figuring out every cut. I only did maybe 2-3 dozen click-lock LVP......probably less but my thoughts are to get through and around that center cabinet/counter in the kichen with my first rows...

    Measuring for wide LVP

That looks like I'd be inclined to run the layout longways down the hall OR at least transition strips at those doors and turn it. Generally I'm inclined to run the planks the longways in the bigger picture rectangle. If I'm reading your sketch correctly I want to run my first rows 49' down the...

I guess that explains how you get to 8%. At least he didn't steal it.

I'm also suspicious that 8% wasn't adequate for 1200' and from experience I know MOST guys are not particularly efficient. I imagine if a computer wizard put his mind to it the software would be pretty easy so long as you defined all the parameters (layout specs).

    Thought of the day .

It was fun when I was young and single. When I was apprentice I noticed that the guys who LOVED to work out town were older, married guys who decidedly did not love their wives.

    Measuring for wide LVP

Well, now they know you cant use 8% for every estimate. Width and length of the material both factor into waste. I convince our shop estimators/sales to list the waste factor on the work order. I also wanted to know up front if I was required to leave back a specific amount of attic stock...

    Discussing politics and religion

I see $1.77 trillion magnitude of student debt and a sleazy politician (actually his handlers) trying to buy votes with forgiving that debt. That's disturbing. There's no middle ground on hormones and surgery for children by a bunch of quacks--------no difference in VALIDITY for their "science"...
