    What’s Cookin

I grew Shishito peppers this year, instead of the usual Italian wax, mostly because they taste soooo goood blistered and salted. Last night I picked some; had the weber kettle fired up, so I tossed the peppers into a rack and put a little char on them with fire, instead of cast iron over gas...

    Name a better band

That's cool. The area up here has a lot of summer homes, several bars in close proximity had great music those summers.

    Name a better band

The year before I would get my flooring contractor license. Her song knocked Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters" out of the #1 spot, then Tina was replaced by John Waites "Missing You". Geez, that's a long time ago...

    What’s Cookin

I know that black bark is some kind sacred BBQ high achievement, but not in my world. Don't get me wrong, a hard sear is flavor, but thats just burned sugar. I can't believe they do that on purpose. :p

    You can't fix stupid.

The most recent glue down fail was a medallion vinyl plank installed with Taylor Dynamic. Days after the install, the end joints of the planks were peaked. The list of probable cause is pretty short, but ownership didn't want me to go look at it. Its being explained as an adhesive failure...

    You can't fix stupid.

I mentioned that. I don't think either of them had any idea. If something goes sideways on a job, the installer that did it usually does not go back to fix it. No ramifications. Little stuff, they have a assigned repair guy, if its major, then its just gets fixed, repaired or replaced, by...

    You can't fix stupid.

I've been enjoying this current weather related work slowdown, but went in to do a measure, and swung by the warehouse just to check in. Our general manager, has been manning the warehouse while a replacement is found, and had a couple of the "advanced" apprentices working in a back corner. GM...

    What’s Cookin

Made sausage this weekend. Tried making some hot links, went a tad heavy in the heat initially; I ground 10lbs, so I stuffed 5lbs as it was🔥, then added 2 1/2 lbs more pork to it and some cheese. Much more family friendly.😆

    What’s Cookin

Sausage goes well. Sweet or Spicy Italian is good.

    Random length LVT.

I'm just thinking that when material that is a consistent length, what cuts off, starts the next row, with few exceptions. I found working with products that come with 3 fairly consistent lengths, its too easy to wind up with H joints or something close to it. I wound up racking the jobs to...

    Measuring a geodesic doom home

Sorry for the truck issues, but its good you got them squared away. I try and measure the same way, accurate footage and let them figure waste. I'll give them an opinion if they ask.

Installation in a round house, many questions

I made the same basic suggestions as CJ, but on your other post. Of course I pick the wrong one. I didn't catch the fact that you were installing over ceramic, so I'll add that a hot melt glue gun works slick for sticking the scab pieces in place. I just use the bundles of inexpensive craft...

Install in a round house, Have you ever done it?

Where to start is like that old joke about how to drive a Miser crazy, put a penney in around room and tell him its in the corner. I hope the product selected is one where you can install from either side without too much difficulty. if so, I'd start in a largest room, out in the widest...

    Random length LVT.

I was at our showroom when our Medallion Rep came by to show some new product. I had installed some similar to it, where the product had 3 lengths of plank. This product, which is Aquarius had 2 I think. Sales asked me what I thought. I think the different lengths make the floor more tedious to...

    Measuring a geodesic doom home

I measured an odd one similar to that one, did like Incognito suggested. Customer baulked at the footage, said it was way high. That was for plank, I'm thinking sheet goods would have more waste.
