Trying to fill Fir Floor Gap

I found that a closet has the same flooring. The finish is different, of course, as it hasn't been sanded and coated in years - if ever. How do I use that wood? Do I sand it, collect the dust, and then make it into filler?

    I'll look into that. Thanks.

Trying to fill Fir Floor Gap

My 100 year-old fir floor has a wide gap in one section. I have tried different fillers, but eventually they crack and even fall out. This photo doesn't really show how deep the crack is. Is there a product that will work for something like this? I have tried Elmer's and Minwax, Thanks.

    Boards Separating

    It's a problem - not an issue.

    Wide Gap Between Boards

Thanks. I will look into nailing them. It worked out pretty well for now.

    Wide Gap Between Boards

Not sure. The floor is over 100 years old. I bought some Elmer's Woodfiller and it looks pretty good. I should have bought the stainable type, though. This is paintable, and I stained it...

    Wide Gap Between Boards

I tried patching a gap with plastic wood a few years ago. Since then it's cracked and I was able to pull all of the pieces out. Now I'd like to do it right. It's a fir floor. Any suggestions on the right stuff to use? Thanks.

    Haze After Polyurethane

Thanks, everyone. The polyurethane was old. I bought a new small can and it looks much better.

    Haze After Polyurethane

It's an old can of clean semi gloss. Do you think I should just buy a new one, lightly sand it again, and re-apply? Thanks.

    Haze After Polyurethane

I did some work filling in cracks with plastic wood that came out okay. I then applied water-based polyurethane (which is what is on the floor now). I then lightly sanded it and added another coat. Now it has this haze. Will this just wear away, or is there a way I can fix this? Thanks.

    Problem With Fir Floor

Okay, but should I go to bare wood?

    Problem With Fir Floor

I started messing around with an area that had some light-colored horizontal spots by using 80 grit sandpaper with a rotary sander attached to a drill to remove the polyurethane. I then applied stain, and oddly, the original problem is gone but I know have a light-colored area in a slightly...

    How to Screen Floor?

That photo was taken before I re-sanded. I might have to apply 2 coats of stain. Thanks again!

    How to Screen Floor?

I did a poor job of describing the problem. It's a 100 year-old fir floor. Many of the boards are different colors. That's just the way they are. In this one board I have two small circular areas (maybe 2 1/2" in diameter) that are a different color than the rest of the board. I have tried...

    How to Screen Floor?

It came out pretty well - I appreciate the good advice. I have one small section with a problem. I have tried re-sanding it, staining again, coating it, but those two areas are lighter than the rest of the board. (I should have cleaned it up before taking the photo). Any suggestions? Thanks.
