We have been wandering around some old buildings at St. Pete Russia and came across these old timber floors
Who would be able to lay these floors?

Do you reckon you have enough years left in you to do just one room? :)
where these were they are in a humungous building with each room done

I'm feeling pretty good these days and I just spent a week working with wood so yeah.........I think I could go another 10 years or so if I had some good reason to.

Give me 10 years, a $100,000 tool allowance, three journeyman Carpenters from the union hall, one good apprentice and we'll knock out a couple of those rooms. Which one do you want? The last one looks easy!

The workmanship in those rooms are excellent. What amazes me is I'm sure they were installed well before power tools were invented, correct?

Yes, can you imagine hand cutting all those pieces? Now theres a company or two that use computers.

Years ago, I made real stained glass, just for the fun of it. I would spend hundreds of hours to make one window, and buyers wanted to pay me the equivalent of .25 cents an hour. All I could do was shake my head in disgust. The older I get, the more I appreciate hand-crafted work. It's second to none.

That's what happened when I was making furniture. People wanted to pay Walmart prices.
