I was wondering about certifications like the IICRC and perhaps there are others. What do you think about these certs and which one would you lean towards?
I'm late in responding because I don't have much for you. I do know if a person in my County had a certification, he or she wouldn't get paid any more than anyone else by a retailer. A buck is a buck and most work is come by through retailers.
I have no idea the cost or time it takes to become certified. Have you done much floor covering work or plan this as your full time trade?
I run a home repair and handyman service out of North Denver.
I am getting involved in a refinishing & maintenance startup. The startup is to be IICRC certified flooring service called Restore Denver.
I started with another person who is certified but he might be flaking. He claimed to have several contracts in the works but I don't think they worked out. I don't know much about floor refinishing, but have installed a lot of luxury vinyl tile flooring.
I was thinking of taking the certification program but it has like 25 areas of stuff! If the certification doesn't pay or give an edge it has no value. I thought that maybe they had some weight that gave a company a plus.
