I gather it he has a problem with it .. I never use it myself , But it is better then giving someone your routing # ..

Thanks. I read up on it and found out that people can use the info to take money out of your account. My mother had told me to give him the info, but I wanted to check first and decided not to. She later told me she would have been mad at me if I'd given the info out (even though she told me to do it). I think I'm going to see if he can pay via checks or something. I've heard that Paypal charges the recipient of the money a percentage. Since it is repayment of a loan, any costs should go to the person repaying, not to the person receiving, but I don't think Paypal works that way. I've heard Facebook has a thing where people can receive payments, but I don't trust Facebook anymore for that sort of thing.

The situation is further complicated because the guy's girlfriend had another incident of diabetic ketoacidosis. He got home from Texas and found her cold and unresponsive. Her temp had dropped to 90 degrees and her blood sugar was 800. On top of that, she now has pneumonia and is still in the hospital. I believe she was watching his two children as well as her own and now he has to watch all 4 of them.

Another thing you could check into is automatic payments. I own a storage and have a few that have autopay set up from their checking accounts. I get a check monthly that they don't have to write out. Sent automatically from their bank.

Thanks, Dan. I don't know how to set that up. I think the guy has an account at the same bank as my mother.
My brother and I have accounts at that bank as well and my brother just gives them my account # to transfer money from his account to mine when he's repaying. I'm usually there with him when he does the transfers though.

I loved George Carlin! And now I want some oreos.

So, the guy who owes my mother $ finally replied to my most recent messages and said she's going to have to wait a bit to get paid bc he needed to take some time off to clean up his yard & house bc CPS was coming to do a wellness check on the kids. Apparently his girlfriend's special needs daughter had an "accident" at school. The school only called one of the four contact numbers they'd been given. The mother was in the store where she had no cell signal at the time. Rather than call the other numbers, the school reported her to CPS for neglect. No one is happy about the situation. I just hope we won't have to resort to taking the guy to court. He's already failed to meet the deadline for payment he agreed upon in the promissory note.

That's what I'm afraid of. He owes my brother some money too and never paid him.

Yeah. :-(
He seemed like a trustworthy person at first, but now I don't know. I am trying to not nag him so it doesn't get to the point that he could call it harassment, but I am going to have to buckle down and insist that he pay and soon. Another friend has offered to get on his case about it, but I don't know if having a 3rd party get involved is a good idea.

LOL. Well, I messaged him and politely reminded him and said the amount he owes-- trying to make sure he admits that he owes it and all he said was "I'll see you this weekend". But, he did sign a promissory note that could be used in court if it ever came to it.

Having experience with the education system in Louisiana, this is not at all surprising-- although I do hope it was a joke. It looks like the kind of thing my father would have put on a friend's vehicle as a joke.
