https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article...rime-deterrentThe Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council released the results of their research through the CDC last month. Researchers compiled data from previous studies in order to guide future research on gun violence, noting that “almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year.”...

The report expresses uncertainty about gun control measures, stating that “whether gun restrictions reduce firearm-related violence is an unresolved issue,” and that there is no evidence “that passage of right-to-carry laws decrease or increase violence crime.” It also stated that proposed “gun turn-in programs are ineffective.”

I passed the public school in Woodworth earlier and I swear the school mascot was a bear standing on it's hind legs wearing a hat and holding a rifle next to it.

I just find it interesting that in my county kids can't even say the word "gun" without the chance that the police will raid their house & they will get suspended from school, but that school has a gun featured in their mascot statue in another county.

Our country is run by snowflakes.

David Ropeik, a consultant in risk communication and author of “How Risky Is It, Really?” ran the numbers. As he explained in a Washington Post editorial, taking into account the number of students attending school, “the statistical likelihood of any given public school student being murdered by gun, in school, on any given day since 1999, was roughly 1 in 1 billion.”

Lott thinks the reporting on school shootings isn’t just misleading, but harmful. As he explains, “any death is a tragedy . . . but despite the recent uptick, the number of murders from school shootings has clearly been falling over time since the beginning of the 1990s. It is hard to think of any benefit from exaggerating the risks and making people think that this is a growing problem. It terrorizes kids.”

My house is a gun free zone with exception of the owner - who has a plethora of weapons and ammo to defend his familia.

In Pennsylvania, a cop has been charged with murder for shooting an unarmed teenager in the back. The teen was running away. The cop will most likely get away with it . In that state, if a cop THINKS that someone who is running away has committed a felony, they can shoot that person. Here, we have castle doctrine, but if an armed person is running away, we would be charged with murder as they are longer considered a threat.
