Help me please!

Hi there

I have an issue with my new Khars Artisan Oak Garmish floor. When I came home last night, I found quite a few black stains concentrated around two-three planks. My cleaner who had been in the afternoon has no idea as to what had happened. She doesn’t use detergents nor lots of water to mop the floor. The only thing I can think of is water stains dripping from her ironing board.

I tried removing the stains with a toothbrush and soda bicarbonate. They haven’t gone away, and rather look darker today (see last set of photos).

Before I try using a wood bleach I wonder if you can advise if this is the best approach. I am not sure if these are actual stains, or if I have removed the upper layer or colouring by scrubbing the almost white floor with a mild abrasive, therefore exposing the darker lower layer. If this is the case, should I sand and re-colour using a natural white oil? If so, can anyone suggest a product that can fix this issue?

What is the factory floor finish? I wouldn't rush to do anything. I doubt it's going to change if whatever got on there has dried.

I'd try a light sanding on one spot and white oil it before anything else.

"She doesn’t use detergents nor lots of water to mop the floor". Wood don't like water .. Use a hardwood cleaner on a micro fiber mop..
If what E says don't work , You can do a board replacement .. Looks like water stains to me ..

Thanks Nick, that was badly phrased. Very occasionally she uses a damp micro fiber mop. Not soaked in water.

To replace the board, would I need to dismantle the whole floor, as these two boards are bang on in the middle of the living room?

I will definitely try what E suggested. My gut feeling is that they were water stains, but I made them worse by scraping off the top, oiled layer with soda and a toothbrush.

You can't make water stains worst unless you add more water .. Board replacements should be left to a pro .. You may be located to one on the site here ..

I do board replacements all the time. Installers out here don't want to mess with it especially on glued down or floated wood. Nailed down is easier cept with a site finished floor blending the finish is hard to blend in.

I Agree .. It's easy money .. Don't know why they don't want to do it ..
