A somewhat more conservative NSPOF estimate is shown in the column of exhibit 7 that reflects the application of the criteria used by Kleck and Gertz to identify "genuine" defensive gun uses (DGUs). Respondents were excluded on the basis of the most recent DGU description for any of the following reasons: the respondent did not see a perpetrator; the respondent could not state a specific crime that was involved in the incident; or the respondent did not actually display the gun or mention it to the perpetrator.

Applying those restrictions leaves 19 NSPOF respondents (0.8 percent of the sample), representing 1.5 million defensive users. This estimate is directly comparable to the well-known estimate of Kleck and Gertz, shown in the last column of exhibit 7. While the NSPOF estimate is smaller, it is statistically plausible that the difference is due to sampling error. Inclusion of multiple DGUs reported by half of the 19 NSPOF respondents increases the estimate to 4.7 million DGUs.

Some troubling comparisons. If the DGU numbers are in the right ballpark, millions of attempted assaults, thefts, and break-ins were foiled by armed citizens during the 12-month period. According to these results," ......guns are used far more often to defend against crime than to perpetrate crime". ..........(Firearms were used by perpetrators in 1.07 million incidents of violent crime in 1994, according to NCVS data.)

A DOJ study, guns are used far more often to defend against crime than to perpetrate crime".

The Neosho, Mo. police dept had six old rifles for 27 officers. They asked a gun store to repair them. Instead he traded them 27 new rifles, so each officer had one. The store covered the difference. The rifles use their Glock pistol magazines. The new rifles would have retailed for $27,000. 2 retired cops own the store.

In Brazil, all firearms are required to be registered with the minimum age for gun ownership being 25.[1] It is generally illegal to carry a gun outside a residence, and a special permit granting the right to do so is granted to certain groups, such as law enforcement officers.[2]To legally own a gun, an owner must hold a gun license, which costs R$1000,[2] and pay a fee every three years to register the gun, currently at R$85.[3] Registration can be done online or in person with the Federal Police.[4] Until 2008, unregistered guns could be legalized for free.[5]

Now how did this happen? You're not supposed to take your gun out of your residence.

”Obviously the amendment does not apply to arms that can not be hand carried--It's to keep and 'bear' so it doesn't apply to cannons. But I suppose there are hand held rocket launchers that can bring down airplanes, that will have to be decided."-- "The 2nd Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding."--- Antonin Scalia (Heller vs DC) www.law.cornell.edu/suplt

I'm back for more abuse! I was hanging out on gun forums. Got throw'd out of the theliberalgunclub.com forum. Apparently they can't take a joke about menopause and how Harris went off on Biden.
I got labeled as a misogynist. hehehe
It was only one joke. Not like I was doing it all the time. Turns out they think Libertarians are the same as republicans. If they had half a brain they would embrace Libertarians because they will pull more votes from the Trump party as we approve of guns and a womens right to choose. Oh well, chalk up another one. So I'm back at rugerforum.net to get my gun fix. It's way better than rugertalk. ;)

This requirement is based upon Heller’s holding that the protections of the Second Amendment only extends to those weapons “typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes.”

In determining whether the particular class of firearms banned by Maryland were commonly used by law-abiding citizens for self-defense, the court stated that “We think it clear enough in the record that semi-automatic rifles and magazines holding more than ten rounds are indeed in ‘common use,’ as the plaintiffs contend. Approximately 1.6 million AR–15s alone have been manufactured since 1986, and in 2007 this one popular model accounted for 5.5 percent of all firearms, and 14.4 percent of all rifles, produced in the U.S. for the domestic market.” They also noted that they are “commonly used for self-defense.”

The court concluded their analysis by holding that “semi-automatic rifles and [magazines for these rifles] are commonly used for lawful purposes, and therefore come within the coverage of the Second Amendment.”https://www.americanbar.org/groups/l...sault-weapons/

Almost off topic, but If the guys that make the TV show "Pranks after Dark" knew that, the show would end.......... maybe tragically. I can't believe one of them hasn't been shot yet.
