Actually I helped make up the restaurant guide for the Star Party, LOL! 3 rib places now, 2 Thai, 3 bar food sites, and 2 Indian food places (haven't been to either yet). And we just found a seafood place. If I get any new astro images, I'll let you all know.

Wood is stained. Might pu another coat on treads tomorrow. Want to check color after it soaks in

Rusty, I hope things go well for your granddaughter in Florida.
Tom, that's a nice color on those boards!

Internet is back. It flooded very badly in town & at the casino. My best friend was stranded at the casino for a few days because the roads were closed. He'd only intended to be gone overnight but there was a curfew in effect & he couldn't get to his house because the street was flooded so the kittens were very hungry when he made it back.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow he's going to come out & help me with some stuff & then I'm taking his fiance to an appointment.

I managed to make it into the grocery store after the water went down & I've been trying to keep up with cleaning. I'm getting a bit concerned about my mother's memory because she keeps claiming she asked me to do things that she never said or she gets the days mixed up. I would think it was my memory but my brother was in the room when she imagined she asked me for something & then yelled that I didn't do what she asked & my brother knew she hadn't asked & that it was coming out of nowhere. Yesterday I got her a sandwich from Subway. I told her I was going back to my room & she said nothing to me. A few hours later she was giving herself an insulin shot & had the rest of the sandwich. I asked if she needed anything else to eat & she said no. Awhile later I came back & she was giving me her angry pug-dog look & said that the intercom on my phone wasn't working because she'd been paging me. She claimed that I left her sandwich out over night after she asked me to put it away but that I said I would do it when I was finished eating. First of all, I got the sandwich that day-- not the night before. Secondly, she asked me to get her something the night before & I did say I would get it when I was done eating-- and I got it for her. Third, she never said a word to me about putting the sandwich away. Oh, and she claimed that she told me she couldn't eat the sandwich & that I just walked away & she threw it in the trash in a rage & then steamed until I came back in. She's always been pretty bad about communicating what she wants-- she expects people to read her mind & know what she wants without her telling them. So, I don't know if this is part of her same problem with communication & she is telling herself she asked for something when she didn't (because that *is* something she's done for years) or if she's starting to develop dementia of some sort.

It gets a bit frustrating because she will argue & be all incensed that I don't remember an imaginary conversation that never took place.

How long a drive to the location?
.......speaking of drives, here's mine.
"GO to" is wherever I point it. :D It's a 1994 model, re-configured figured in 1996 to make the Flintstone motor drive apparatus ................. and designed specifically to nail Hale Bopp.
The motor drive control has two potentiometers for the much needed variable speed control, two switches for on and forward/reverse, and a couple of LEDs so you know its running, all packed into a plastic Radio Shack box. The motor turned the tripod gears at 2 RPM via an old cordless screwdriver gear box.
The black camera tripod holds the motor, and it's later version was connected to the telescope tripod via a longer Dremel flex shaft used to eliminate motor vibration. The motor was two Skill twist screwdriver planetary gearboxes connected together to reduce the speed to 2 rpm. (4 gear sets instead of two) The guide scope was a 9 power rifle scope. I drilled a hole in the barrel of the scope and siliconed in a red LED to illuminate the cross hairs. Fore Hale Bopp I used trw scopes. One to align with the north star and a second scope was used to keep the tracker pointed at a star near Hale Bopp. The motor contraption changed speed a lot so the potentiometers acted as my variable speed control. The volt meter assisted in the speed control too.
Took a while to come up with this one.:D

My drive is 6-6.5 hours from Lancaster, Pa. to Plainfield, Ma. Peppermint Park. I think 8 days camping is $320. The club gets an additional $60 for the support items like speaker tent rental, propane, coffee, etc.

Not bad for 8 nights.

Www. Rocklandastronomy.org

I have a Celestron C-9.25 on a Losmandy G11 German equatorial mount. The drive system is a Gemini 2.
My imaging setup costs roughly $6000 and has a separate color filter wheel, a fine focused, rotator, and 2 cameras.

I need 44 lbs. of counterweights.

If you can get a campsite, we will be up there from 7/26 to 8/4.

I drove to the Winter Star Party in Spanish Harbor Key, 2 keys west of Marathon. Left Lancaster at 6 a.m. on a Friday morning in February. Predicted major snowstorm on the way. Only hit rain but Florida had the coldest temps on record. Snow reached the Florida line. We made St. Augustine by 1 a.m. (2 drivers) 3rd driver had a stomach bug so we made a few extra stops.
Next day we stayed at a campground near Cape Canaveral. 3 guys in a tent. Hoped to watch a shuttle launch. Cancelled at 4 a.m. But went to the visitor's center and had a good day.
Drove rest of way to the keys but had to detour around Superbowl. Couldn't go past Miami on I-95. But we got there. Slept in car overnight. I was a zombie by morning. No reclining seats in back. Ugg.
