I went and voted. Noticed that at least one of the people running was not actually the political party he claimed to be on the ballot (I read up on the candidates and their stances).
Came across this gem:
Do you support an amendment to prohibit the use of involuntary servitude except as it applies to the otherwise lawful administration of criminal justice? (Amends Article I, Section 3)
[ ]Yes
[ ] No

The latter part was not on the ballot. So, the option is to make it illegal to use slavery as a punishment for a crime except when it's legal to use slavery as punishment for a crime. Slavery is illegal except when it's illegal. The person who initially proposed the amendment was unhappy with the wording and said it's too confusing. His intention was to make slavery/involuntary servitude illegal. Currently, even people who are still pending trial (not convicted yet) can be put on chain gangs and forced to do manual labor.

I fed kitties, got gas, got got groceries, got cow food, fed the cows, got hooked in the side by impatient cow, cooked, and am resting.

One of the cats peed on Mom's mail-in-ballot so I asked the election workers and they said if she isn't going to vote by mail she can still come in and vote physically. They don't want a ballot with cat pee on it.

I'm fed up with both political parties right now. Although, I am sad to hear about Pelosi's husband being attacked in their home. I don't care what the party affiliation is, someone breaking into a home, zip-tying up an 82-yr-old man, and bashing him in the head with a hammer is not acceptable. People are cracking jokes about it but I don't find home invasion and assault of an elderly person the least bit funny. Even if it happened to someone I extremely dislike, I would not be ok with it.
Biden just passed a law making it illegal to have a hammer in your posession after 5pm. Yup, thats gonna stop the crazy criminals.
......no, he didnt do that. Its like banning guns will make crazy people sane.
I wish Paul had a gun in his house and maybe even locks on the door.
Too bad the intruder didnt point his hammer at the cops. That would have saved a lot of money.

If for some reason I wasn’t supplied T- moldings for that trap door I woulda found another work around to seal that deal otherwise I’d have a pissed off customer or I’d have to make a return trip for free.

If the actual trap door is say 16”x24” I would have dry laid the planks out over the top of it and traced some lines that were say 18”x26”. The laminate portion of the trap door would be bigger than the actual trap door itself. This would help to stop, a little bit, cold dirty air from creeping in from the crawl space. If you cut clean lines with your saw then leave a 1/8” gap between the lid and the floor, you’re golden. Yeah it woulda taken an extra half hour to 45 min but that’s the kinda stuff that separates the men from the boys.

I ask myself why it is that a product that is so easy to install has an abortion rate that is through the sky. Do shops need to start giving away complimentary area rugs to cover up the worst of it? Sad thing is the shit work isn’t in the middle of the room, it’s all about the details which are around the perimeter of the room. Base, transitions, trap doors, toe kicks, stairs…
The floor is OSB and whoever cut the hatch wasn't a skilled laborer. This may have been a modular home. Not sure.
To do this right, it needed a new piece of plywood for the hatch and to accurately re-cut the opening in the floor.
It was under the carpet, so a surprise to the installer and myself.
That said, you call the shop and ask what to do next, ask for permission to do what you think is best, inform the customer and offer suggestions.....
Don't just cut the opening with a tire iron and expect a happy customer and a pay check.
Before I left yesterday, the customer told me I should be in the floor layers hall of fame. 🤗
They both looked over the hatch after I left the first day and liked the miters and the overall look.
I've had a lot of really nice compliments over the years, but that was very unexpected.
.....and no, I shouldn't 🥴
It made my day, month, year. 👍

Saturdays are for playing and today I had a good time. Made a router sled so I could flatten my cutting board then sanded it smooth. Any of you guys try the sanding screens? Those things work great. I’m prolly gonna put it on a lazy susan base and give it away but I still gotta order that. I gooped it good with some mineral oil then I buffed it with some food grade wax. A set of feet on the bottom and it’s all done until I lazy susan it.

Did you buy a special bit designed for flattening? How much sanding afterwards? That turned out sweet.

I did buy a new bit. I think I spent maybe $45 on it so nothing crazy. They do have some really fancy CNC spoil board bits with replaceable carbide inserts that work like a charm but then you’re getting up into the $100+ range and I’m just not there yet.

You do have to sand out minimal lines between router passes when you’re done planing it but it’s not bad at all. It’s not perfectly smooth but it is flat and that’s what counts. A CNC machine can get it perfectly flat and smooth but my sled is CN me not CNC so sanding it is. 60 grit on my palm sander knocks down all the lines then I hit it with an 80 grit screen and damn those things are nice, especially when I have my palm sander hooked up to my HEPA vac. First time I’ve tried the sanding screens and I liked the 80 grit screen better than the 60 grit disc. I sanded it up to 150 grit then started applying oil.

What I really need to do is to hook up some dust collection for the sled or just say heck with it and set up the jig outside on some saw horses so I can let the chips fly and Mother Nature will take care of them for me cus there’s a lot and I only buzzed down 1/8” split between both sides.

Waiting for "trick or treaters". Only had 6 so far and they were grandkids.
Still not dark here. Last couple years barely a handful came. So far the guy across the street came over twice with two different kids. I was surprised they came so early. Usually they come after dark but those kids were barely walking so he's just kinda going through the motions.

In the late 40s they started a school program here. They would have a dance, movies, and free food and games from 7 to 12 on Halloween, for high school students, They stopped it about 3 years ago. Kids were no longer interested.

CJC instead of CNC.

There had to be at least 4-500 kids go through my sub last night. We quite passing out candy maybe 10 years ago when they tore up our flower bed and what have you. The bad part is they are mostly bussed in. You know when they aren't from here when the parents ask how to get back to their car in the shopping center up front of the sub.

Friend of mine on one of the main streets had 800. But she does that kind of stuff. She took their model A and delivered Christmas presents to the poor kids last year. She is a Republican who moved here from California. Told me should could not handle it anymore. Don't know what her boyfriend does for a living but, they bought an 1880s Victorian home and are restoring it as authentic as they can.

Got my ass kicked today. Lady didn't want to spring for a pour & the material is some warped, twisted BS engineered I had in the warehouse. What a pain in the ass!PXL_20221101_184722342.jpg

That is really sad.
Worst case here was a neighbor kid. He went out long before it got dark and filled his pillow case.
When it was time for us to go out, he traveled door to door with us.
A lot of people said to him :
"You've already been here tonight"
His bag was already 1/3 filled when we started. As a kid, it was a bit embarrassing.
I wonder today, if they understand that feeling. 🥴

Good thing you just so happened to have those cinderblocks on the truck! I prefer cartons of VCT.

I had the help run to the lumber yard for them.
It was closer than going back to the shop for vct. Had I known I would have brought some. Unfortunately there was carpet here before so never got a good look at the slab.
I need x-ray glasses....... Who am I shitting, if I had x-ray glasses I wouldn't be using them on the floor! 😂

Sadly, having a gun might not have helped Paul Pelosi-- it may have gotten him killed. He'd have to know how to use it properly and be quick enough to shoot or deter before the guy could take it away from it. There were a lot of news reports in these parts about break-ins where the burglars took the guns away from the homeowners and either injured them or killed them.
I haven't dealt with trick-or-treaters since we lived in Guam. I had a grim reaper type costume and I hid in the carport and scared the crap out of the kids. I enjoyed that. I really wanted a gigantic Furby that would speak in normal furby voice to tell them to come closer and then have its eyes light up red and have a demonic voice tell them it was going to eat them. I thought about it bc I once saw a Furby commercial where they had a giant furby being put in an ambulance and rushed to a fake hospital to give birth to more furbies.

Speaking of birth, friend's gf had her crotch goblin removed by c-section this morning. I was supposed to meet them at the hospital around 7 (had to leave just before 6) but fortunately messaged my friend before leaving and he said it was put off until 10. He asked for food so I met him around 10 and gave him taco bell. Then I helped him set up the arrangements for the paternity test. He was embarrassed about having to explain that he wasn't sure it was his. I thought they were already getting the swabs but he said something about the baby not being in the room yet and its been a few hours.
Stopped by Walmart to get a new power outlet for the microwave (did I remember to post what happened with that?) and then popped in to Dollar Tree briefly. Picked up food from a local place on the way home bc we can't use air fryer or microwave.

I'm going to have to shut off power for the entire house bc I don't know what breaker the outlet is on. That is going to suck. But I need to change the outlet and reconnect wires to the light switch downstream bc the kitchen lights went out.

I'm probably going to get a nap soon if my brain can calm down.
