In your own house, would you use engineered click-lock or prefinished nail down hardwood? Just consider I am 73 and have knee issues, 12 x16 room, how much extra for waste? If nail down, use nails or staples?

    Pre installation checklist

Went into a house in the country once to lay carpet around 4 waterbeds. Dog shit everywhere. Layed pad and carpet over it. Some of the shit was so old it had turned white. I figured the smell did not bother them. Never got a complaint. Check list, don't clean up anything you don't have to clean up.

I had a store for a while, measured and sold a couple times, but always went back to installing. A couple years ago, the local store owner, only one left, tried to get me to install for him. I said, don't you have some installers? He said, none that give a shit.... I blame that attitude on the...

Vintage Roberts Smoothedge Junior Power Stretcher

I tried lubing the rod, it would still bind. Crain's solution was to remove the lock, but that did not help. Their rep admitted that it was a design flaw, but said they would not replace it. When it failed, I bought a Roberts, Jr at a pawn shop for $100, and have used it since. I did have to...

Vintage Roberts Smoothedge Junior Power Stretcher

The one I bought had a square rod that slid in and out of a square hole instead of the round rod and hole on a Roberts in the head.. The square one would bind really bad.

Vintage Roberts Smoothedge Junior Power Stretcher

I bought a new Crain in the early 80s. It had the square slider. In a couple months it would bind. I talked to a Crain rep. He said Crain knew they were defective but would not replace them. Never bought another Crain tool. That stretcher head is in a box somewhere. I kept the poles, they would...
