    What did you do today?

I would propose a tax on gunfire in movies. Say 150,000 every time one is fired that would greatly limit the reckless shootings we all see in movies. But Hollywood would have a cow. Mike

What have you found underneath old floor covering

When I was an apprentice, (early 80's) we pulled up some old carpet and found an entire Dallas morning news spread out on the pad. It was dated the day after JFK was shot. The installer showed it to the home owner who kept it. Mike

Need some simple help before getting started

If this is a floating floor, move the flooring to the "B" wall, and make your cuts on the "A" wall. Be sure to allow for expansion. It is better to measure before and divide the flooring so there are not any extremely small cuts on either side. If it is a glue down, and already glued then your...

1957 Chevy 2 door hard top (not post) windows in front and back went down, and there was no post at the door jams. Would really like to have it back. Modified 283, Hurst slap shifter. Could out run many muscle cars in block to block racing. The big block boys always thought spinning the tire...

    Smokin Hot Slab

I saw one of these years ago. It was on the fourth floor of the building (pan), and had stretch in carpet down for years with no problem. They then glued down new carpet and within one year the carpet was failing, coming loose all over. When I lifted the carpet the multi looked like glass and...

    Opinion 2

In Texas you can open carry "if" you have a concealed carry license. The training is during the CC permit. It's not difficult and not oppressive costly. The last one I did we were at the range. L&N Services INC Closes; Owes Inspectors $1 Million +

I agree about the paper thing. Worked many years used by major mills almost exclusively. They didn't ask. The last several years however they have been asking so I been doing it (the cert thing). I have told some mills that they need to be looking at qualified people rather than certified...

    Carpet yarns sticking up

There are lots of terminology that is slightly different across the nation. Most mean the same thing, but generally cause little confusion. Another example of this is "corn rowing" in some areas across the US this is what gauge lines are called, while in reality they are not the same thing. Corn...

    Carpet yarns sticking up

It's called sprouting. Not that uncommon in plush styles, but can indicate a defect. I would test a scrap for tuft bind and trim the sprouted tufts. Also look at the pulled yarn for signs of stress as in elongated fibers, or rough ends. Dog In the home? Mike

    Attention carpet installers!

Some areas of the country are primarily wood, while here in Texas we only see wood floors upstairs. I was just trying to determine the posters thinking and while the difference is not much overall it can impact the use of z bar. I generally oppose the use of adhesives in the gully at transitions...

    Need some advice about underlayment

No Need to do it, completely unnecessary. The instruction for concrete are to divert moisture from the slab away from the laminate. Not required over wood. TOTRR
