    Protective Mats

I'll try to figure out who CRI is and call them. Thanks

    Protective Mats

I messaged the company right away, when I got your post, and they still have not replied. I guess they don't intend to.

    Protective Mats

If not rubber or latex, then what sort of backing? If I put down something that is cloth on top and cloth on bottom, then any water will just soak straight through the mat to the floor and the floor won't be protected from dampness at all.

    Protective Mats

I want to use mats to protect my engineered hardwood floor by the entry door and in front of the sink in the kitchen. I've read all sorts of conflicting info on the internet about whether rubber or latex backed floor mats will harm the surface of the floor by either scratching, chemically...

    Reducers

No pics. Not installed yet. I'm trying to educate myself a little before talking it over with the installer. Thanks.

    Reducers

I'd like to have some 1/2" thick engineered wood to replace some damaged 3/8" wood. Currently, the 3/8" is perfectly level with the tile in the bathroom and there is no transition piece of any sort. Is there a way to put in some sort of unobtrusive transition in the door to account for the...

    Staining Unfinished Engineered Wood

New thread about my inability to find dark engineered flooring. I see plenty of unfinished engineered wood with 4mm wear layers for sale. Apparently these are meant to be stained somehow. However, I had an experienced floor stainer over here who told me not to try it because it would have to be...

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

How about this. I see plenty of unfinished engineered wood with 4mm wear layers for sale. Apparently these are meant to be stained somehow. However, I had an experienced floor stainer over here who told me not to try it because it would have to be glued down and so I'd have to get the 3/8" thick...

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

Heck, I just got a new sample in the mail of the same stuff I have on my floor now. I installed this about 10 years ago. The color on the new sample isn't close to what's on the floor now. It's missing a lot of the darker tones. If my dishwasher hadn't misbehaved, I wouldn't be in this mess.

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

    On a slab. Need engineered.

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

Ok, I might have to break down and do a handscraped. I've searched all over town and gotten tons of samples from the internet, and all of the supposedly dark hardwood floors are actually medium in color. What handscraped options do you suggest that are actually dark brown instead of medium?

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

I doubt the insurance company will go for $$$$$. The floor just has to outlive me, which shouldn't take long. It doesn't have to go on forever.

Really, really dark brown engineered wood?

Anyone know of a really dark engineered wood? I see it in design photos, but can't find it, only medium dark. I currently have Triangulo Maduro Chestnut that has to be replaced due to water damage. I like the dark color, but since it has little grain or variation, everyone, including pros...

    Labor Cost

I've had a lot of stuff done in houses over the years and I've moved small, breakable things, glass shelves, grandma's stuff and emptied out movable cabinets and bookcases so many times that I look it as part of the routine. But these painters were insulted that they thought I didn't trust them...

    Labor Cost

At the request of some contractors who have worked here in the past, I have moved some irreplaceable items inherited from my grandmother because they didn't want to be responsible for them. I had some painting done about three months ago and assumed they too would want me to move them, and I...

    Labor Cost

What I'm going to do is talk to the contractor about what needs to be accomplished and ask him if he can haggle with the insurance company over the price. As someone pointed out on my other thread, the insurance company is supposed to restore the damaged property. My specifications are that...

New Question. Transition from wood to tile.

Well, they are going to pay for water damage restoration, though they gave me a really low number of what they would pay. They will not pay for any mold remediation. They are of the view that removing affected drywall, particle board, insulation and flooring, and wiping down non-porous...

New Question. Transition from wood to tile.

I have high levels of Stachybotrys and Chaetomium.

    Labor Cost

I can pay the kids up the street $200 to put the furniture in the garage, if it will save me $5000 in furniture moving costs from floor installer.

    Labor Cost

For $14.80 sq. ft, they should do the windows too.
