    Measuring for wide LVP

Two jobs, one my measure, the second, was the shop owner.....ran a little short. Same product. Mine was about 1200sq feet. The product measures 5 feet by 9" wide. Is waste because of the width our issue? They add 8% to my measurements. I've always measured the same way.

    Grinding tools

I measured a very nice large home on Friday. It's going to have a wide plank LVP throughout. After drawing the layout, I went around with my 6' angle aluminum straight edge..... Oh dear 😳 The slab has 1/4 inch wide saw cuts about 10 feet both directions. Some may have been separate pours...

    Quinn wins

Best scissors I've ever bought. My grandpa's shears were retired a year and a half ago. I recall paying $16.99 or maybe more... $19.99? I saw them and bought a second pair for in the house. This time $7.99 💐 Go to HF and buy a pair...... Mine, my old ones and these new ones are a black oxide...

    Scored on a Saturday afternoon

Trimmed up and sealed the edges of a couple of pie shaped stairs today so I could send them off Monday for binding. Tossing a bag of scraps onto the big dumpster, I noticed a large diameter hydraulic hose on top. Twice or more the size of the Hyster, so I investigated. Climbing up the steps on...

    Re grouting

Same kitchen as the Gypcrete question. These pavers have been down for 25 years. The originally grouted looked like it wasn't heavy enough but regardless, a large portion could stand regrouting. This area could require removal and regrouting of a 5' by 25' area. A lot is totally missing. This is...

Best method to key in new Gypcrete

I measured areas to repair in a large restaurant kitchen. Two damaged areas need new Gypcrete brought back to the level of the existing. It will then receive new gray quarry tiles. How do you prep the edges where the existing Gypcrete meets the new? Does one prep he edges where they meet with...

    Thermo or latex

Some work, finally. 🙄 It's a Karastan wool Berber with a jute back. It's a 15 by 17 bedroom and a landing area, so there's just a doorway seam and a 15 foot seam for the 3'6" main fill. Orcon sealer or thermo? ....or does it make a difference? I've thermo sealed almost everything for ......25...

    Stair runner pad

Customer is heading out of town so I have a dilemma. I'm starting a carpet runner tomorrow afternoon and never thought about how slippery the synthetic felt pad would be on these oak stair treads. I don't think there's any of that Karastan rubberized felt pad anywhere within 120 miles. The...

    Epoxy flake for restaurant kitchen

Measuring a small restaurant tomorrow. Mainly the 15 by 24 seating area and two small baths. I just talked to the owner, he mentioned possibly doing the LVP throughout the kitchen. I said nope. He said that he had an epoxy and flakes. I said I'd talk to him tomorrow afternoon when I measure...

    Estimating wide plank wood flooring

This is about 2300 square feet. It has water damage and its being torn out and replaced. I did my own measuring and came up with 2336 SQ ft. The lady found the original installers notes. He came up with 2271. The job ran very tight with nothing leftover. What percentage do you add to an 8" wide...

    McGuyver strikes again

Old carpet, still has a lot of life in it. The older fella got tired of looking at burn marks from the fireplace. I looked at it yesterday, told him I could do it today. The carpet rems lived in the shade and the living room has typical fading. There was a large enough piece of carpet to...

    Prepping puffy OSB

A large area will be receiving an lvp click plank. How would you prep this? It's a lot of sanding and a lot of skim coating. It's 42 by 27. The floor looks to be very flat, no highs or dips that I could see using a 6' straightedge. There are two bathrooms and an 18 by 8 laundry room and two...
