    15ft wide carpets.

I wish we had 15 foot wide carpet in NZ. The number of times I do a job where every room needs a fill between 1 and 3 feet wide it would have its advantages.

Some other laying I have come across

Yes, It is pretty scary what some installers get away with!! I had a guy contract for us a while back who's coving always looked like this. Difference was, he didn't get away with it most times. I got called to have a look at one of his installations and discovered that.... He had done all his...

    Mapei

I have used marpei stuff in the past although I can't remember which product. I almost exclusively use Ardex product for prep these days, they seem to have the right stuff for every situation.

    Things are picking up?

Just reading through the different forums it seems like things a a bit quiet for most installers. Personally, I think it's picking up.... We've had contractors doing work for us a few days a week for the last 3 weeks....aside from what I'm doing myself! The glass is half full people....the...

    Seamer Down Now

Heres a couple of pics of what the seamer down can do. This was a job I did where the customer was unhappy with the visibilty of the seam, yet the seam was perfect - I couldn't get it any flatter. I went there today, re-heated the koolglide tape and .... well, the result speaks for itself I...

    Seamer Down Now

Thanks for the offer! The box it came in is about the size of 2 shoe boxes....maybe just a little bigger.... I'm actually making enquiries into being the NZ distributor for them. From what I've seen in one day using it, the quality of carpet seams can be improved immensely! I can't wait to...

I just received my new Seamer Down yesterday (The first one in NZ) What a great tool! I will be doing my best to get more of these into NZ. Every carpet installer should have one, the results are truely amazing!

    Kneeless Carpet Stretcher

No, Carpet One in NZ operate a litle different than the US. We are fully mobile, we don't have a shop/store. There around 50 C1 franchises throughout NZ. Every year around June/July we have an off-shore conference which is usually either in Australia or one of the pacific islands (Fiji etc)...

Carpet made from recycled plastic bottles

I actually use Tri-Tac as standard these days. With some of the carpets we're getting here with the backings so 'stiff' it's like laying a 12 foot wide piece of wood I find it is much better.

    Kneeless Carpet Stretcher

It's $435 US which includes freight. Not sure what that works out to but with the US dollar as it is it's probably gona cost me around $500 or so. My credit card statement will surely inform me!! I'm just keen to keep up with the global progress!

    Kneeless Carpet Stretcher

It might be a different 'loaner' Jon. I met the Wellington FWL rep today and he showed me one he had in the van. He was taking to someone else to have a look at so couldn't leave it with me today.....hopefully my turn next week!
