    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

In love with the floor. The filler came out better than expected. Note that there's a lot of glare in the photo.

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

We're choosing to go with a water base finish, commercial grade. We're fine with the filler if it is what it is. Obviously would want it to not show as much. Like you said, once the house is furnished, it'll be less noticeable. There are literally a couple thousand holes throughout the house...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

I see what you're saying. No they aren't. I think it's way too many holes for them to do it that way.

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

I guess the way they do it is use the filler that has more of an exact match at the end, prior to the screening on the ones that get torn out. Since the filler with more of an exact match takes time cause they have to take their time on each one and filled by hand. There's probably over 2000...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

There's probably about 800 sq feet of wood flooring which has a couple thousand holes all together. Maybe more. The bedrooms have the most holes. The filler is a little light, however it's only noticeable when looking for it. Especially when adding furniture. The floor still looks beautiful. The...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

I'm not sure. According to the floor guy, there's different fills for different types of wood and the filler they used is specifically for red oak.

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

Well we want to go with a natural water polyurethane finish, no gloss. Which will soon be applied. They said that the filler that's being used is specifically for red oak floors and is pretty much as good as it gets. Here's another photo that was taken after wiping a damp cloth over the floor...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

I just came by to check out the refinishing progress and some of the areas where they filled the wood looks pretty noticeable. If it's the way it's gonna be, then it's fine. Just want to make sure these guys are doing it right. Here's a close up...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

Thanks. I'm really enjoying this diy project. Love it at times and hate it at times, lol. I've never been the handy type, but definitely like the way it's going and can see myself doing more projects.

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

Here''s an update. Doing just enough to remove most of the tar and will scrape off the rest. Took a couple hours cause I'm being very patient and am getting comfortable.

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

@nick I removed all of the nails as requested by the floor refinishers. I was just a little concerned that the wood filler wouldn't disguise the holes. @highup I have this and it really hasn't worked too well...

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

@nick whoops, someone mentioned somewhere that they used hot water to remove the mastic. I thought It was you. Sorry about that. What you're saying does make sense. I'll try to use the acetone and see what happens.

@Nick By the way, what to tool did you use after pouring the hot water?

    Hardwood/Tile Issue when remodeling. HELP

@Nick that makes sense...perhaps I should try some other options first before continuing with the grinder though.
