On Saturday I pulled up the original al carpet in a home we purchased 5 year ago. Hardwoods are underneath are covered with the backing. See photo. Its horrible! This is just 1 room! I tried denatured alcohol, the backing comes right up, however, the flloring looks like it is unfinished...
