    Prices and demand

California. To clarify When i said saturated with labour i meant flooring specifically, i know the problem existed but figured it would be similar to here

    Prices and demand

Probably an interesting reason why immigrants may not take to flooring easily over here compared to america, is our rooms, landings and hallways are often ridiculous shapes, nothing is square so its not so easy to get away with a bodge job 😄 all our stairs are waterfall too and often 8 kite/pie...

    Prices and demand

Well money isnt everything i guess, i didnt really think the states would be saturated with labour in the way youve all said, i actually thought id get more there than here, moving to america seems to be in my future as my wife wants to move back one day so im just gaining some knowledge.

    Prices and demand

Id say i work probably 30 hours a week on average, but i do around 15 hours a week ontop of that in driving. Flooring in the uk isunaffected by immigration, only the UK,USA,L and Australia do stretch fit installations so eastern earopeans have no experience in it and hence we have no...

    Prices and demand

Its before deductions but i dont have a great deal of outgoings, maybe 4-5000 in fuel and probably under 1000 in blades and staples etc for the year. Im self employed so not on hourly, there usually isnt enough work to fit into a full day so im finished by around 2pm each day. Good Carpet...

    Prices and demand

Im in the UK but have the ability to move basically anywhere in the usa although utah, california, idaho and collarado are preferred states. Whats the demand for carpet installers there right now, whats the pay like and how much sqy do you get through in a day? Right now in the UK im on about...

How would you stretch this ?

No our metals are exposed, they have little spikes in them that hold the carpet in. Depending on what you pay you can get cheap flimsy ones or more solid strong ones

How would you stretch this ?

I guess you dont mean the winders or pie steps as some call them? The bottom step or on this occasion the bottom 2 are what we call a bullnose, and thats generally how they're finished unless requested and paid for to do it diferently.

How would you stretch this ?

Yeah i have 2 power stretchers, our standards are a bit diferent to the usa, we only need to use them over 5meters or 16ft3. However i use them most of the time regardless of size except on a couple of carpets types we do that i prefer to kick. The metals are similar to this (cant find a...

How would you stretch this ?

We call them winders, theyre all waterfalled? Only the bottom step is capped and band and thats because its either that or sewing it and new build homes wont pay for sewing 😄

How would you stretch this ?

I dont take "tea" brakes 😄. And i tuck with a combination of plastic bolster, a custom tool i have thats essentially a blunted hop pruning knife for small or tight areas, and the orcon quick tuck. Never tuck with a stair bolster

How would you stretch this ?

Its just the norm really. You can get diferent colours and designs of them too. Gotta say its much easyer than seaming each doorway up 😄

How would you stretch this ?

Been arguing that for literally years but nope, burn your arms and hands on boiling pipes for the asthetics and satisfaction of builders/sales

How would you stretch this ?

How would you stretch this ?

I have this job that i done once before 3 years ago, the carpet had bubbled/delaminated throughout the house however the carpet used was absolutely notorious for delamination and was honestly a POS, had been for years. they finally seemed to have sorted their issues with new ovens and we've been...

    Wool carpet

That was just for the product. Install prices vary in the uk but im on about $7sqy as a subcontractor for carpets(which is more the top end), our wools are more or less the same to fit as a polypropylene twist. Will be interesting to fit some stuff in the usa one day to see the diferences

    What did you do today?

Had a big room yesterday about 36ftx 23ft with a 23ft seam down the middle.
