Ok, have a question. First couple times you turn the key..nothing at all. Next 2-3 times..it clicks..Then you turn it, it starts normally........Bad connection, bad starter? Gear reduction starter, so no separate solenoid. Already changed the starter relay. What would you check first?

I had a bad +battery connection on the starter once. All I did was snug it up a tad.
.....just be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal first.

The ignition switch can have bad contacts that might cause your problem too.
Most cars have the key on the column but the actual switch is down at the bottom of the column and activated by a rod from the keyed switch above. If the starter cables and the starter connection seem okay then that might be your next best thing to look at.
