I am trying to determine if it is safe to refinish a bamboo floor. Ours is 8 years old and the finish has deteriorated in traffic areas. Can it be safely sanded given the formaldehyde used in the glue. I don't want to get it all over the house but I don't want to be overly alarmed either. any thoughts.

Best to call the manufacturer I'm thinkin. How much thickness above the groove would make a lot of difference and so would the sanding method. Might get by with a slight scuffing then a new finish coat............ but you need to know what finish is on the floor now.

If i were to attempt to sand Bamboo , I would just give it a light screening with a used 120 grit screen.
