I am currently installing some 20x20 imported nylon carpet tile down and I noticed some of the edges are black. Almost looks like they were burned or latexed, not just the base of the threads but right to the top. The problem is that some of the seams stand out as a black line. Does anyone know about the manufacturing processes overseas? I just have never seen this before, we’ll never noticed it anyway. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I could share is that when I've seen carpet tile cut and packaged at the mill, one of the last steps is a "sanding" step where the tile passes by a side sander that's positioned along edge of the conveyor belt. It gets sanded to remove any burrs left on the edge of the resilient backing resulting from the cutting process, then it passes through a "turning" station so that the remaining two sides get sanded too. Maybe during that step, the tile got mis-aligned somehow.
