We installed an inexpensive Bamboo hardwood 5/8 thick in our home in 2009. The finish has not held up to normal foot traffic. There are definite worn spots in the finish in several spots that look extremely dirty but it is not dirt it is the virgin bamboo under the finish. My question is given the fact that bamboo is manufactured ,to my understanding , with formaldehyde glues. Can it be sanded and refinished without spreading the formaldehyde all over the house. Is it better to just replace it.
