I have a Crain 575. It’s maybe 5 years old and I might break it out every 2 or 3 months as I am primarily a carpet guy. Was using it yesterday and it started smoking and throwing sparks. Probably the brushes. Does Crain fix these things? Are there better options for repair? I really don’t want to buy a new one.

It's just brushes that might not be hard to fix it all. I don't have one so obvious I don't know the configuration of the motor and it's end cap, but that sounds like a DIY repair. ...... Unless crane is making throwaway motors with a soldered in I'm unreplaceable brush. 😄

They do repair them Darren. The best way is to take it back to the dealer you purchased from if you can. They can send it in for you. If that's not an option you can also call Crain and get the information to send it in.

The part # for the brushes is a 1575-K. You're price is going to be around $15-$18 for a set.
I love you man
