Hi everyone. I have engineered timber flooring which is quite light in colour. I just removed a rug which had been in place for three years. The wooden floor is discoloured underneath. Or perhaps the rest of the floor is no longer the same original colour. Either way there is now a circle of light floor where the rug used to be. The rest of the floor is still light in colour, but noticeably darker.

Can someone please suggest the easiest and cheapest way to get the whole thing the same colour again? Is it possible without sanding?

Thanks all
Stu

You'll be lucky if you CAN sand it out and refinish to a consistent shade. It's either UV light or some chemicals on the backing of the rug that's created two distinct shades.

I suppose if you could figure which is the culprit AND could recreate the exact conditions you could affect the desired change. I'd bet 1000 to one against that though. Maybe someone has a happier solution.
