Hello,

I’ve recently moved into a new house and after mopping the floor I noticed scratch marks in the wood.
A website suggested going over these with a damp sponge to remove these but this did not work in all cases.
in the tougher to remove scratches I added washing up liquid to the sponge and have ended up ruining the floor.
There are now large white patches of discolouration which you can see in the picture.
Do you have any suggestions on how I could fix the floors?

Many thanks.

tldr; patches on wooden floor caused by cleaning with washing up liquid, how can I fix?

The white spots may be from moisture from your mopping the floor. Let the floor dry thoroughly then try something like a Tibet almond stick. It’s basically white mineral oil so it won’t necessarily darken your floor like tongue oil can. Deep gouges will require a different approach.
