Never installed that stuff but I’ve seen the concept before.
They call it a “solid wood” floor but it’s gotta be engineered wood right? I wouldn’t think solid wood would have the stability to float?

I’m looking to get rid of some ceramic tile in my own home. Hardwood would be my first choice. I REALLY don’t want to demo the tile. I don’t think I’d trust this stuff to stay put but I’d love to hear some opinions on it… I hope I’m wrong cause this would be perfect!

You’ve got a concrete slab I’m guessing?
Finishing the entire board prolly helps with dimensional stability of the wood. As long as it doesn’t cup or crown it seems like it would work as a floating floor does, expanding and contracting n such as one entire mass.

No…Crawl space…Pretty dry though. I imagine going over the ceramic would alleviate any possible moisture issues.

I've got a 2000 sq ft home I will gladly provide for them to prove how good this stuff is. I won't pay for it, but will provide really nice feedback and even post pictures on this forum. Wait, is that illegal?
That product seems like it is oriented more towards a commercial application to me. Same thing with that magnetic floor that was supposed to revolutionize the industry. I haven’t seen that floor anywhere, or a revolution in the industry for that matter.
The kicker is they won’t give you a price. That means it’s gonna cost you a pretty penny. Prolly the same as it would for you to demo the tile and just roll with a nail down installation.

My thoughts precisely. When they asked for a video meeting to “build a relationship” I knew that couldn’t be good.
Thing is it’s the living room, dining room, hall and family room. Ceramic is over plywood with two inches of mud. It’s in good shape but it gets cold in the winter. Aside from the cost (I’m not doing it myself at this point in the game) demo is gonna be a mess. I was thinking if I go over it I could do it myself a little at a time without the mess… Any recommendations on a good engineered wood? I’ve always liked Mohawk and Shaw products but it’s been a while and there’s so many new products on the market… Don’t know what’s quality and what’s crap…

Orrrrrr, being a solid wood floating floor could prove to be problematic and swapping out boards is to be expected. The video conference is so they can get a good read on you to see if you’re the right kind of sucker who would be willing to pay way too much for a not so great floor.
I think I’m on to something here. I’m gonna start FaceTiming my customers before I show up and if they are deemed to be a headache, I’ll just stay home.

Suppose you can’t fault them for having a target customer and not wasting their time with anyone else.

Most decorator carpet showrooms around here do the same thing. Change the name on the samples to their own. No advertised pricing… You even get a cup of cappuccino while you browse.
