Hi, we are having our hardwood floors refinished and having some new installed. The old were sanded down and everything was stained golden oak. Where the old and new meet there is an obvious difference. The pics uploaded don't have poly yet. What could be causing this?

There’s more than one type of white oak as well as there are a few different grades of hardwood floor that differ by the visual appearance of the boards. All you have to do is to look at the floor and you can see there’s two different floors there. When done correctly your floor should blend nicely and you would never know the floor was added onto.

You can tint the stain on the new wood to match up with the old patina'd wood. Just takes practice and testing first.
