The US ranks 31st in the World, not 1st, for gun-related deaths.

If you're talking solely about murders committed with guns, there are 82 countries worse than the US, and some of those countries ban guns.

Gun-control does not reduce crime or gun-related deaths, but Culture does.

Guns are smuggled across the border from Mexico, and smuggled by boat on the East and West Coasts, plus the Gulf Coast.

Many criminals commit crimes with guns they did not legally purchase, because they obtained the weapon on the Black Market, which would expand in size if guns were banned. They only thing you'd accomplish is leaving good people defenseless against criminals.

Liberals have strait-jacketed the rest of us, so that we cannot force the mentally ill homeless, or any mentally ill person to take medication, and we cannot force them to live in a group-home or other institution, and we cannot force them into treatment of any kind, so they're left to their own devices.

And then we have certain Conservatives who think disarming the mentally ill violates the 2nd Amendment, in spite of the fact that the Framers of the Constitution only intended for law-abiding citizens of sound mind to have weapons, and the 5th Amendment's Due Process Clause requires the State to prove that a mentally ill person should not be armed for the safety and peace of all.

Hold on a damn minute floorist.
The GOP has been blocking mental health funding since frikking Reagan was in office.

"We call on the legislature to enact a law which has never succeeded in reducing either the crime rate or the mass-shooting rate, no matter where it was implemented or how strictly it was worded. But we are convinced that if the right people enact one like those, and if they really mean it, it will be the first one to actually work. And even if it doesn't but follows the pattern of every other so-called "assault weapon ban" and accomplishes nothing but stripping rights from law-abiding people and generating huge piles of paperwork instead, we will feel really good, and will be convinced we have "done something".

That's the plan. All they need to do is pass such a law and somehow still get reelected. The day that happens we are doomed as a country.

Have to say that as for being worried about any administration of the USA taking away 2nd amendment rights it would be Trumps. Merely to save his lying ass and keep himself in power.

I've never had anything to do with Russia. LOL

Ern, you need to be concerned about that Socialist Senator who was just elected in Arizona. That was the breaking point for me buying a house in Liberal land Arizona. Your guns will be gone quick if she has her way.

Hav, she wants restrictions like back ground checks, and registration at gun shows. As a honest law abiding christian I do it all the time, The .gov knows of every gun I have. Maybe if everyone did that less LEO's would get shot, less guns in the hands of the mentally ill and crooks.

As for Trump, I could totally see him trying to invoke Marshall law if he were to be convicted of treason as he should be.

Oh and as for gun control, as you know CA is worse and always will be. Least we can buy all day, even ammo and conceal carry without a permit. But you know that. Whats cheaper in AZ than in CA... EVERYTHING! Cept for lettuce.

A Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) ‘white paper’ [authored by ATF second-in-command Ronald Turk] correctly identifies ‘assault weapons’ as a politically contrived term with no real meaning and recommends dramatic federal law revisions in how they are regulated.

Turk’s ‘white paper’ says the agency is interested in reforms that ‘promote commerce and defend the Second Amendment without significant negative impact on ATF’s mission to fight violent firearms crime and regulate the firearms industry.’

Turk wrote that the misleading ‘assault weapons’ term to describe AK-and-AR-style rifles should be replaced with a ‘modern sporting rifles,’ to reflect how the use and popularity of these firearms has grown. In fact, he noted, their use in ‘sport shooting’ has grown ‘exponentially’ and such guns ‘are now standard for hunting activities.

Reagan signed the ban on full autos, and was a huge proponent of gun control while Governor of California (Mulford Act). Trump signed Fix NICS and is about to ban bump stocks.

All gun laws are infringements, and Republicans are no friend of property rights, which is simply what gun rights are.
