Might i ask what product you were using?
Leveler for floor coverings is designed to be smooth, but who know in this wacky world
This is the only one Home Depot had.

I'm not familiar with that product. You want one that is designed for or will work with floor covering.
UZIN, Mapai, Latacrete, Henry and others make levelers design for floor covering. They dry fast enough to accept floor covering in extremely short periods of time. Some just a few hours and most and less than 24 hours. They are designed specifically for floor covering and I don't know if that rapid set brand is. Not saying that it won't work but I'm not familiar with that one.

That leveler is fine, its not a brand I am familiar with but reading the specs on the HD website, you are good.
Leveler is a little gritty kinda while pouring so if you followed the instructions you are gonna be ok
