Hi! I am newbie and wants to ask how to fix a hardwood floor. Attached is a picture of the damage This damage was under a rug for quite some time. The previous owner covered it, they say that it was a damage by water dripping out of a plant pot. Any idea on how to fix this? Do you just sand it and maybe varnish it. Sorry I really have no experience doing this, so any help will be great. Thanks.

Can't tell by the photo if you see black on the wood .. Water sinks in deep .. You can try sanding , But i assume you don't know what finish was put down so i would sand the complete floor , and pull one base coat , and two top coats .. PS: It is hardwood ..
