Measured and met super for this upcoming job. I’m to old for this crap, but somebody’s gotta get-her done. Anyhow, my first question is about TUO, see pic, they are bound stair treads, glued direct with construction adhesive, applied with a caulk gun. She pulls up ok, but leaving behind beads of raised glue. I’d like to avoid using blade scraper, so not to scratch marble, any ideas ? Ya think a plastic scraper would work ?

You need a fine, multimaster or the equivalent of the vibrating saw but use a flat blade which is commonly used as described for a carpet removal and caulking removal. It's just a radius blade with a sharp bevel. If there's no staples, this might work for you.

I would just use a 4” razor scraper. The marble has got to be pretty flat and a new blade in skilled hands would make easy work of scraping off he construction adhesive. I wouldn’t worry too much about scratching it unless you went at it all crazy like.

A 4 or 5" scraper with a new blade is what I would be going for myself.
Chances are when you get under the adhesive it'll probably just pull off by hand in big strips.

Are you doing them the same or a full runner?

Thanks guys ! Full runner this time, waterfall method. Fastening 6” cut PCs of commercial tkls using traxx glue sticks or Chemrex. Last one I did we did combination of Traxx + aluminum drives as per marble polisher dude. Pad will probably get glued to treads + lndg. And some type of double stick method ( cpt. To pad on lndg. ).....I’ll also bring a roll of gorilla tape for edges on an as needed basis. Of course the cpt. Is stiffer than Johnny holms on viagra 😜 and the contractor priced it out as nothing special here to look at 😡 O -Boy ! We have a situation. 🤪

I'd use the Chemrex, but leave a one inch gap on each end of the tackstrip and one in the middle.
When you have the tack strip glued, make three quick squirts of hot glue into the 3 gaps you left on the tack strip then quickly press it in place against the marble. The hot glue will hold it in place while the Chemrex sets up.

great idea Highup, But I need more details, if you have them. ( I’m not the sharpest knife in the draw ) and I never used Chemrex, sorry, it’s master weld 948. I’ll need to google instructions, I can’t read the small fonts 😡 but the supplier said it’s moisture activated. Apply to surface, spray / spritz with water then apply. Will that disrupt the hot glue ?
I struggled through reading some precautionary statements and it sounds like I need to gear up with safety equipment.

If you spritz it with water that speeds up the cure time. If you’re worried about the spritz of water affecting the bond of the hot melt then you just don’t spritz it. Moisture in the environment will cure the Chemrex, just not as quickly as spritzing it. If you’re trying to install the tack strip and runner in the same day, I would spritz it.

Here's what I was talking about with the tackstrip.
Just squiggle a couple beads of adhesive as whatever pattern you normally do but just leave three spaces or four without adhesive.
With your hot glue gun in hand and ready to rip, quickly squirt out three little globs of hot glue and position this and press it firmly into place, exactly where you want it on your first try. The hot glue is going to set up really quick because the marble will suck the heat out of it.
I do the same thing when positioning trims for Cortec or laminate flooring.

Thx guys, this job will now practically lay itself 😜 ......highlow, you are the diagram master 😆 Should I wear a respirator, ? The stair case is completely open to the second floor and entrance foyer has a window. Sorry, I ask too many questions

I was a master diagrammer when I had a working PC. Ms paint was my best friend and partner in crime 😁
Now I just scribble and doodle.
Open to the foyer and there's a window...... what you're saying is that people are going to see these stairs and light is your enemy?

I still have two working PC ‘s .....MS 95 ( was not set up to be compatible with the year 2000) I play solitaire and can still draw floor plans and print them out......Remember I did that crazy stair drawing for one of your jobs back on TFP 😀 and the second one is MS 10 but I never dabbled in the Ms paint program...... As for the stair runner, I’m asking about the chemical fumes from Master Weld.

No fumes from the master weld. It's kind of slippery like Crisco and it won't come off your fingers so if you get some on your fingers wipe it off with a dry paper towel, dampness activates it.
I'm trying to recall which crazy stair runner. ....... actually, I'm just thankful when I can remember anything 😁

. I’ll look it up and post a pic, that should jar the memory.
Way back I bought Corel Draw, never did figure out how to use it.
. I got lucky back in 1994 by stumbling upon some shareware. It was called home plan pro ( really nice guy from California) and relatively easy to learn. Then I upgraded to the 3.5 version and that came with an instruction booklet. Eventually he made a windows version that I bought, but never spent the time to learn.

Ok highup found it. 2009 you had to install a pre-made roll runner with a large diamond pattern and you wanted some advise. So I came up with a few plans. Remember ? 🤷🏻‍♂️ You probably got more sound advise from Master Dobby 🙇 🤓 see next post for pics
