thanks Daris ! I can’t believe that guy did that , looks amazing......Hey, take a look at those two bull nose sts. And tell me what method you think is best. A) have at it hard with the steamer or hair dryer and stretch the puckers out, FINGERS crossed..... . B) Templet the curve treads , cut separate treads and risers, then sew the seam 1/2” over the nose. C) Go Australian style by fastening the riser and making a million cuts to get her flat 😡

Got 5 sts and 80 % of the landing done today 🐢 🐢 Turtle carpet man is crawling alone 😳 ....... Does anyone remember what topic it was where the Australian installer cut 1” strips along the tread to form a curved look on a pie shaped step. I need to re-visit his YouTube video

Just inside / before the miter, there’s a nasty shadow line. Looks like hell on the photo 😡
Kinda like when you put a living room seam 3' out from an outside wall with windows and the shadow makes the carpet look 2 different colors. 😵‍💫
Shadows are on the steps too. Nobody sees it but you. Man, those look fantastic. 👍
You did the binding too?

I don't care what everyone else says... That's impressive.
Damn, wished you were here when people throw the weird stuff my way, so I could throw it your way.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, maybe after they are lInstalled ? And even then, you know what they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now n then 😜 ....I sure as hell wondered around long enough on this one to make it so 🤪 No estimator on the planet could ever quote properly for me. Hell ! Even I can’t 😳 but thanks high much appreciated. I would trade mine for yours any day of the week 😀

Thanks Daris, final pics will have to wait, they had a minor flood last night 😡 effecting the completed landing plus 6 steps. The second pic is the sewn curve and the third is how I marked the curve using a speed square. 👍

I'm so glad I wasn't asked to do those. I'm getting old enough to say no.
Awsumn job. I'm betting word will get around and youl be swamped in stairways like that. 😁

Nice job!

Problem with jobs like that is most people/customers don’t appreciate how much work and expertise goes into it. Many never see the template and the hand sewing. They just see a runner on the steps…. And then wonder why it took so long…🥲

then wonder why it took so long…🥲
Thanks JP .....Speaking of time, how many days do you think it would’ve taken you ? Specs: from top down, 4 straight sts, 5 curved pies, 5 straight, mitered landing, 4 straight, 2 curved bull nose. ...... Tuo stair treads, scrape glue ( FYI, it came up easy) cut tackless to 6” PCs. on chop saw, fabricate 1/2 in shop, half on site, and install. Lost one day with water damage and a 2 hr. Round trip commute.

Two days with a helper. Helper would be ripping up, cutting and gluing the tackless, probably with contact cement (double coat) so I’d have a headache all day long. I would jump right into making the necessary templates and sewing on the risers where needed. I’d mark the steps, cut the pad and let the helper glue it down.…Then I’d fix the pad and the loose tackless… I’d install behind him. All on site. Hopefully I’d have a helper who could work a binding machine.

I’d also be crying the whole time because it was getting late and I wasn’t getting paid enough.… I’d have to get it done though because the company I was working for gives me a lot of nice profitable work…. Just not today…. The woes of a piece worker…😔
