Barge from closer up. They've been dredging the bay for months. One bucket at a time. Guessing the bucket is 20 feet tall and 12 feet wide. I may be way off.

This is an old milk boat that went up and down the river 90 years ago.

The old dock is in disrepair. Nothing has been used for 20+ years. It's right in town, but I've never walked here to explore. This is couple hundred feet away from the carpet one store.

It's fun being so close and be able to watch them plop huge buckets of mud into a barge. I'm a cheap date. 😁
Once a barge is filled, a large tug takes the payload 10 miles through the bay, then a couple miles out to dump it. The entire bottom of the barge opens up just like the bucket on the crain. I'd love to watch that happen. The barge must pop up like a big cork as it's emptied.

Like someone who ate at Taco Bell.

That's neat. I worked for some people 20 years ago. They bought metal ceiling material as part of restoring a local home. I think it was built in the 20s. Maybe they bought it from that place.

Number 88 is an 11 year old boy who has stage 4 cancer. He had played grade school football. His team and their opponent escorted him to the goal line to score a touchdown. His father is the weather anchor at a local TV station.

My new phone is a Google pixel for 4a. It has a slightly better camera than my Motorola G7 power. I recently deleted a bunch of photos before I transferred information from my old phone to my new phone. I took a photo quite similar to this one with my Motorola and even though I was holding it really steady against the window it looked terrible.
We have a train museum and of course most of it is outdoors right along the waterfront next to the highway. They're always pretty good about putting up a Christmas display around the trains and I stopped to take a picture.
The Google phone did much much better with this night photo then the Motorola did. With the Motorola image you couldn't even tell what was going on. Not too bad for a low end cell phone....... Higher end than I wanted to buy but what the heck.

When I was looking at a different kind of phone to buy one thing that I noticed with this camera is it said that it did fairly ok night pictures. The one they showed was a cityscape with a beautiful blue background and stars and I think that might have been stretching the truth a little bit.
I just pulled across the street into McDonald's parking lot and faced the trains, then set it on night mode and held it as steady as I could against the window frame. At least you can tell what's in the picture with my old phone it was just a blurry mess of lights. When I have another opportunity I'll read the instructions a little bit and see if there's any adjustments that can be made to make an image like this that's better. I haven't looked yet to see what the shutter speed was and maybe if it can be extended by hooking this up to a tripod it can do better. Hey, I'm a guy..... we don't read no sticking instructions. You only do that when there are parts left over 😁

Heading home yesterday I saw a large Coast Guard ship moving down the bay. It's a boey tender. Looked it up and it's 225 feet long. These place boeys and pull them up when they need to be serviced.
