Anyone know where to find published radial and tangential shrinkage rates for African Mohogany?
Did you try a goog >>> forest products laboratory, radial and tangential shrinkage rates for African Mohogany
I found it in the Dry Kiln Operator's Manual shortly after I first posted the question. By the way, chapter 1, page 37.
Varies quite a bit from something I had found online from another source.
Manual says tangental 4.5; another online source 6.6
Manual says radial 2.5; another online source 3.7
Manual says specific gravity 0.42; another online source says 0.55
Dan, are these online sites distinguishing the difference between the south American vs the African variates? I'm betting there could be a huge difference in values.
The other was FPL Dry Kiln Operator's Manual.
Good find Dan.
Those wood workers always have good info.
I had to buy the Periodic table of wood poster from them since I often go there.
