I’m cutting 5x7’s and 3x4’s for a friend and planning to hot seal edges rather than binding. I did a test and it’s bonding rather well. Who’s are resident mad scientist, ?.....I’m using Pam sticks......will vinyl plasterazation occur ? Also the warehouse guy used strapping tape and now I need to clean off the gooooy science experiment 😡. Any certain cleaning agent better than the rest ? I’m assuming this is the plastetazation. Thx in advance.....Mike ps> maybe I should just use the recommended seam sealer, not sure what that is. ✌️

I've used the clear glue sticks and an orcon gun to seal the edges on regular carpet backs. Worst case scenario is you'd have to touch up a spot if it ever tried to unravel.
I think that Pam gun is a lot hotter than a standard glue gun? I guess if the trial looks like it works then what the heck.
