I've always wanted to visit NZ but it's been a long time since I've been on a plane. My mother would have to go with me bc she needs someone to take care of her. Not sure if they'd let me bring my cats, dogs, & cows though. LOL.

I hope the boss upholsterer is paying for the damage to your vehicle.

My brother-in-law once had his truck at a dealership for maintenance & one of the employees crashed his truck into a pole (knocked the pole down)- busted it up & blew both airbags. They fixed the cosmetic damage but refused to replace the passenger side airbag (I think he should have fought on that one). He was so royally pissed off that they had to hide the guilty employee from him bc he was ready to beat the crap out of the guy (he has a bit of a temper although he's mellowed since then). He said that if it had been his corvette he would have murdered someone. He really should have gotten the $$ for his truck depreciating from the accident as it was a relatively new truck but he ended up getting such a high blood pressure spike that his nose started bleeding & he didn't want to deal with them anymore.

Me and dad 40 years ago. Lost him 7 years later.

What *does* google lens do?

I can barely do stuff on my phone except make calls & take pictures. I'm all thumbs & hit the wrong things. My friends all like the phones with no edge & I hate those bc I need a buffer zone for my clumsy fingers.

Safely made it to my sister's. She has a pirate ship with skeletons out on top of blue tarps for Halloween decorations & that was how we could figure out which house was hers. 3 of her cats are scared of us, but the oldest one remembered us & loves us. She licked my hand for 20 minutes straight when we got here. She must have realized I was thinking about her bc she's climbing on me now.

Since GPS has improved & we took turns driving, the trip didn't take as long as before. I didn't sleep the night before bc I was up cleaning & packing stuff. I cleaned up the kitchen & did laundry. When we went to leave the truck battery died. Got it jump-started & headed to Walmart to get a new battery (only place that was open that early). Still have to figure out how to reset the cd player/radio code.

I drove until I started having coordination issues & couldn't keep my eyes open & switched out. Mom had coffee & mt dew so she was good to drive for several hours. I think I went for 6 hours before the swap & then she took over for another 4 hours then swapped out again & I drove for another 3. Then she drove for almost the rest of the time-- I think I took the last 2 hours. This time we stopped to rest when we were both too tired. I might have been able to stay awake if I could have caffeine but it makes me jittery & gives me arrhythmia.

The house here is nice but the stairs are steep. They used high steps so it was tough to make it up them when we got here bc my legs were swollen from my toes all the way up to my calves.

Nothing here is ADA friendly so we need to buy some stuff so Mom can use the shower. The showerhead is very high up.

I'm thinking of getting a Moen Magnetix showerhead & getting the extra docking bay that can be stuck on lower down so Mom can reach the handheld. We need to get a showerseat as well.

We both slept a LOT on Sunday-- didn't even realize it was afternoon when we finally woke up.

I'll have to see if Mom wants to go to stores with me tomorrow to pick out a showerseat & stuff while my sister is at work.

I just hope my brother is remembering to feed the elderly dog & making sure none of the cats or dogs are locked in any of the rooms.

Don't you hate buying a new part, and then having to fix the new part before you can use it? Putting a safety cable on my daughter's push mower. It was so poorly machined that I had to file it down to make it fit.

New stuff not being made properly is one of my pet peeves. Quality control has gone down the toilet. Speaking of toilets, my mother keeps griping that the toilet in the guest bathroom here is too short. LOL.
My sister has to go to work so we didn't get to go to the store until she got home from work & didn't have much time to look at things.
Its the middle of the night & I'm hungry but I don't want to disturb my brother-in-law by going into the kitchen & getting something.
Mom is racked out & still managing to snore with her cpap on. Violet (the cat) is sleeping between us. Her health has been declining & she needs to get some sort of injection once a week. I hope she'll still be around the next time we visit. The other cats are all afraid of us.

The old 250.000 k Falcon wouldnt go backwards the other day NZ$3000 to fix then solenoid on starter died $350 so decided time for the Falcon to go where old Falcon station wagons go
Then try and find another wagon big enough in the back to replace it as we use 1.2m wide sheets of underlayment along with 2m wide vinyls as I do not want a van especially at my stage of life
So I am picking this wagon up at the end of the week
Do you reckon its going to work?

Update Got call today that I am going to get the new one as its going to take about 6 weeks to get new panels from Canada to repair the damage the upholster who was going to put covers over the rear insides of the doors to protect them did when he backed his car into the new one

Jon, I hope the insurance is enough to cover it.

I was wrong about the cat needing an injection-- she had to get an subcutaneous fluid drip for several minutes. Poor thing hates it. She ran downstair and puked all over the bamboo floor afterward (the medicine makes her nauseous). She has to get the treatment biweekly for the rest of her life. After a few hours she came back upstairs & howled for attention. I called her over & got her to climb up on the bed (she can't jump anymore) and she slept in the middle of the bed again.

The other cats in the house are starting to come out. They are still skittish though-- but I got to pet one of them a little bc I gave him chicken.

I talked to him a couple weeks ago. Nice guy. Knows a lot more about some carpet than I do for sure.
Got to have a little chat with HI today. It was about seaming some woven Stanton. Said the directions they have posted on line that they are out dated according to Stanton. No longer has to be handsewn. Nice talking to him. Enjoyed it.
I missed these comments guys. Thanks and I feel the same as you.... I am a really nice guy. :D
Honestly, I feel the same about you.
Going back Monday to finish the last 4 steps and turn under the edges of the landing. Here's some progress. The carpet edges get turned under on the front and back sides...... Haven't turned the back of the landing or form the corner piece. The corner is gonna suck with this material....trying to figure out ways to cheat.

Here's where we are.... and how we got there. Decided to make the folds on the front and back of the steps nice and even....... consistent.
Made marks at 2 1/2 inches and creased it, then folded it over. The fold I'd made permanent using a bead of hot glue. The plywood is the same size as a stair , so the second or back side gets the same treatment. This makes tacking so, so much neater and easier. Can't use a stapler because they are too short.

As of Friday.... Here we is. Getting close.
The owner wanted the landing to drop all the way to the second step. I think it would have looked better turned under like the stairs. The landing would have had to be quarter turned to do that. We tried for 3+ hours to turn under the carpet laying that direction ...... It would have taken a sheet metal brake to make it bend.......... Maybe.o_O

Thanks Rusty. I'm trying to figure out how to bill this part out. It was a bit educational since I've never done a set of stairs in this way, not to mention with this kind of carpet.
I cut two strips of carpet each with the pattern centered. This was enough to do the upper stairs. Each cut almost kept the pattern in the same place on each step. I'll be sure to make the last 4 steps do the same. Be nice to have this job done, and get back to re stretching and seam fixin'...... Way less stress.

I'll try to help. A couple years back, a friend gave me an old commercial vacuum motor. ........my old Sears vac died but I saved it.
The two are now married. It has so much suction, if I block off the inlet, it wants to suck the canister flat. :D not sure what to use it for yet.
