I’ve had a couple appliances repaired throughout the years. If it’s still a decent appliance then often times the repair is your best bet. Gotta factor in shopping for, picking up/ delivery/ removal of the old appliance.

Freezer repair would require a refrigeration specialist with access to the the proper refrigerant for your unit. And good luck finding parts. Can’t get the old Freon anymore. I own a couple of ice cream shops with 50 year old commercial freezers. We have a guy on call but he won’t touch residential equipment. Usually not worth the price of repairing. You might try cleaning the condenser with some compressed air. They can get gunked up. Sometimes that helps.
Compressors and refrigerant are costly. Chest freezers are your best bet, most efficient as cold air stays in them even when open but if you must have an upright affordable ones are available.

The old adage “They don’t make um like they used to” is very true with refrigeration… Avoid Samsung. Nothing but trouble.

We have a couple of these chest freezers, no complaints… They come in larger sizes too.

One of my family friends used to do the repairs but he passed away from cancer a year or two ago. I'm still friends with his son and the daughter took over running the shop. I may reach out to them and see if they know anyone who does repairs.

I need to do some maintenance on my AC. It is too bloody hot. Sadly, the repair guy is in prison right now (he got high as a kite & crashed in to a schoolbus full of kids-- only minor injuries thankfully).

My friend's barn door arrived but has to be assembled. One side will be painted gray (to go with the kitchen theme) and other will be stained mahogany. I'm waiting for him to message me back on when I should go get the paint & bring over my tools.

I'm about to see why it is so damn hot in here. I think I need to change the filters and pour bleach down the condensate line again.

I wish they made translucent Relfectix. I'm about to go buy some to cover my windows with.

It's been getting up in the 90s. AC not cooling still. Freezer died this morning. Its a FrigidaireElectrolux freezer. We had to run to the store to get ice and a big cooler that is supposed to keep stuff cold for 6 days. Transferred some stuff over. Plugged in the old sidexside fridge/freezer that has been off for over a year, threw some bags of ice in the freezer & are waiting to see if it cools enough to put stuff in.

Then the freezer that died started making noise again so it is trying to work. We'll see if it can pull through and start working again.

Found out from one of the Walmart cashiers that Lee (the AC repair guy) is out of jail but I don't have his contact info. Waiting on my friend to wake up to see if he still has his #. Went out and trimmed weeds around the AC as best I could but arms started crapping out on me.

Something funny I forgot to mention the other day. Mom walked out of her room and directly to her left are some drawers. Gravy Jones was sitting on top and yowled directly in her ear (he is very LOUD). She turned toward him and then very loudly yowled back at him in his face. He put his ears back and backed away. My brother thought she had fallen or something and came running out. Had a good laugh over that one.

It's hot AF in here, I can't stay on my laptop long bc it overheats. Got 2 vornado fans blowing on me. Mewlatto is to my left relaxing in the breeze. Fippy is to my right panting like crazy. I'm trying to get the fan blowing on him to cool him off.

Broke down and bought me a new machine. 2022 Honda rancher. This is the first brand new thing I've ever bought. Was thinking about finding a nice used one but decided I don't want anymore potential projects!
I have a warranty on this. If anything goes it's the shops problem not mine. PXL_20220521_153506931.jpg

I spoke too soon. AC guy got locked up again yesterday. My friend called around and found someone. The owner said he'd send someone out. The employee told us he wants to mow his lawn and refused to come out here.
I can't find the model number on my unit (can't find the label and I looked all over the whole unit) to confirm what the capacitor is. He wants us to buy capacitor from him and install it ourselves.
Update: Dude wants $80 for a $30 part and won't install it. He can piss up a rope.

If I was gonna buy a car I wouldn’t be considering an American vehicle. The wife had a diesel VW, one of the emissions cheating ones. So. I loved that thing. 45 mpg all day long.
My MIL left us her 2007 Nissan. 214,000 miles now and never needs work. Still 25 mpg in town and 35 mpg hiway.

I'm sitting here boiling. Friend is trying to fix the AC but previous guy made a mess of it.

Rusty that's decent mileage.

Turns out the boss didn't check with the employee about availability. Employee had his kids and couldn't leave them but he walked my friend through the process and we needed one more part. So, $90 and the compressor is on and fan is blowing. It is slowly cooling off but not quickly enough for my tastes. My friend is proud of himself because now he knows how to fix/wire the outside AC units. I paid him back for the parts he bought for me. Sometime this next week I will stain his new kitchen door for him. I found a stain color he liked.

Sounds like dude didn’t feel like workin so he gave you a crazy price to make it worth it. There are days I can relate to that.
Been there, done that. Then there was the customer who never paid me the $50 she owed me. Guess she forgot, but I didn't, gave her a bid of $1500 to lay a 12 x 15.
