Theres got to be something built into the software program that won't allow you to refill a cartridge more than once. Then it says incompatable cartridges and you end up replacing them with new ones.
To top that off, HP and costco ganged up and now only sell three color ink cartridges at once and two black. They used to have a combo pack which was reasonable with one color and one black. grrrr

Have you tried Walmart for the cartridges? We buy our printer cartridges there. We don't have a Costco. The cartridges don't seem to last as long as they once did. I would guess that they have cut back on the amount of ink.

I found a combo pack at OfficeMax. Still perturbed about the messages this stupid machine is giving me. All is well for now.
I kinda really wanted to know if other peoples machines do the same cus I'm never buying another HP product!!!

I had trouble with my printer a while back. I had just put in new XL black cartridge and replaced it with a small cartridge. Solved the problem, but when it ran out I put the XL one back in. Printer told me it was a used cartridge but gave me the option of overriding the message. I di have to run a sample print sheet first though and then it was good to go.
I know what you mean by Hp printers though. Mine shifts gears and farts a half dozen times before it finally prints. Which is very annoying to me.

I use to buy my ink from Ink jet 101.

Good ink , and cheapest around.

Now it it cheaper to buy a new printer then buy ink.

Epson is the best one out there .

I had them all ,ranging from 6 - $800.00 and epson was the only one that would print envelopes without jamming.

I was pricing new printers just yesterday and Staples was a much better discount than my local Costco. I can't believe a printer could be purchased for less than $100, and just the ink cartridges for the old printer run me $65!

Are you referring to Post # 6 E ?
I get Ink jet 101.

Try to google it if you are getting a different link.
