I remember 25+ years ago he was racing at what was going to be his last race. The announcers even mentioned this was probably his last race. No money, no sponsor...................Wasn't doing well enough to get a sponsor for the next season.
He won the race, maybe it was the nationals, I don't recall. That race got him sponsored and he just won't quit.
